Match Preview

Zola misses out Crewe will be without striker Calvin Zola when they play host to Barnet. The Congolese striker tweaked his knee in training on Monday and will not be risked, although the club are hopeful he will be able to feature in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie against Ipswich. Byron Moore is likely to take Zola's place in Crewe's front three alongside Shaun Miller and Clayton Donaldson. Teenage midfielder Nick Powell is expected to be among the substitutes once again after making his first senior appearance in last weekend's 3-2 defeat at Cheltenham. Powell, 16, became Crewe's second youngest debutant when he came on at Whaddon Road and will hope to be involved once more this weekend. Defender Carl Martin (shin) and goalkeeper Steve Phillips (shoulder) remain on the sidelines. Barnet will once again be without Steve Kabba and Joe Devera. Striker Kabba remains sidelined after being stretchered out of the Bees' opening game of the season at Chesterfield with knee ligament damage, so Ricky Holmes is set to continue in attack. Defender Devera has missed the last two games with a bruised kneecap and is not yet ready to return. Jordan Parkes has switched from left to right-back in Devera's absence, with centre-half Daniel Leach now filling in on the left. Boss Mark Stimson was encouraged by last weekend's goalless draw at home to Burton, the Bees' first point of the season, and is unlikely to make too many changes.

Match Report

Alex steam to win Crewe eased the pressure on boss Dario Gradi with a magnificent seven in their first League Two victory of the season as they smashed Barnet 7-0. Gradi had come under fire after a winless start, but goals from Clayton Donaldson (2), Shaun Miller (2), Joel Grant, David Artell and AJ Leitch-Smith sent fans away happy. Hapless Barnet were under the cosh from the start. A flowing move down the left culminated in Luke Murphy's header across goal being turned home by Miller in the third minute. On 35 minutes Miller sent Donaldson racing clean through and as keeper Jake Cole slipped, the striker slotted neatly into the corner. It was 3-0 two minutes after the restart when Grant lashed home from 20 yards, and Artell's header made it 4-0. Ashley Westwood teed up Donaldson to nod his second of the afternoon on 59 minutes, and Miller and substitute Leitch-Smith rounded things off. Miller took advantage of a fumble by Cole on 79 minutes and Leitch-Smith rammed home Matt Tootle's pass eight minutes from the end.
