Match Preview

Tubbs to lead line for Crawley Crawley have no new injuries or suspension worries ahead of the FA Cup Second Round tie at home to Swindon. Blue Square Bet Premier leading scorer Matt Tubbs returned from a back injury to bag a first-half hat-trick in the 7-0 thrashing of Altrincham on Saturday taking his tally in the league to 15 goals in 18 appearances and he will lead the line again against the Robins. Town manager Steve Evans will find it hard to make changes following the comprehensive win at the weekend but he could bring in Richard Brodie to partner Tubbs. The summer signing from York came off the bench to net two against Altrincham but will face competition from Jamie Cook and Craig McAllister for a place up front. Argentinian winger Sergio Torres will be hoping to keep his place in the starting line-up after making a goalscoring return to the first XI at the weekend having been used as a substitute in the previous three games. The Red Devils' only absentee is midfielder Simon Rusk who continues to be sidelined with a knee injury and is expected to be out until at least Christmas. Crawley have only lost once in their last 11 matches and won 5-0 at Guiseley in the FA Cup First Round but have only reached the Third Round proper once in their history during the 1991-92 season when they were beaten 5-0 at Brighton. Swindon have extended Matt Ritchie's loan stay. The Portsmouth winger, who is eligible to feature against the non-league side at Broadfield Stadium, will now remain with the Robins until January 4. The news will come as a big boost to manager Danny Wilson with Ritchie having excelled during his second loan stint in Wiltshire, scoring twice in 11 appearances. Fellow loanee David Ball will not be available for the cup clash having not been cleared by Manchester City to play in the 4-0 win at Plymouth in the first round. Midfielder Jonathan Douglas is doubtful having been forced off with a groin injury in the 1-0 league defeat at Notts County in midweek, although Simon Ferry could be a straight swap having returned from his ankle injury to make the bench. Kevin Amankwaah (knee) and Vincent Pericard (groin) both trained on Thursday but the encounter could come too soon for them.

Match Report

Cool Tubbs rocks Robins Matt Tubbs' classy equaliser ensured non-league Crawley live to fight another day in the FA Cup after holding Swindon to a 1-1 draw in their second-round clash. Swindon striker Charlie Austin had swept the npower League One side into a 66th-minute lead with a fine finish inside the penalty area. But just 10 minutes later Tubbs booked a replay for the Blue Square Premier side with a classy finish - his 17th goal of the season. The clear-cut chances in the first-half fell the visitors' way, and they almost took the lead in bizarre fashion. Matt Richie drove low against Michel Kuipers' left-hand post, the ball rebounded onto the goalkeeper's shoulder and back off the woodwork on its way behind for what should have been a corner, but was mysteriously given as a goal-kick. Just after the hour-mark Swindon were rewarded with the opening goal when Austin slammed home his 12th of the campaign from 12 yards, but Crawley equalised 10 minutes later when Tubbs cutely finished Sergio Torres' through-ball with the outside of his right boot.
