Match Preview
Dempster back for Crawley Crawley welcome defender John Dempster back from suspension for the visit of Southend. Centre-half Dempster missed Saturday's 2-0 win over Macclesfield through suspension after his opening-day red card at Port Vale. Charlie Wassmer replaced Dempster at the weekend and could be the man to make way. Midfielder Dannie Bulman missed out against Macclesfield with an ankle injury and is still unavailable but Ben Smith could return in the centre. Skipper Pablo Mills remains sidelined with an ankle injury and fellow defender Jamie Day is still out with a back problem. Scott Shearer is set to get the nod in goal again ahead of Michel Kuipers, who has been struggling with a rib injury. Mark Phillips will again face a fitness test ahead of the match. The Shrimpers centre-back failed to shrug off a groin injury in time for Saturday's 2-1 win at Accrington, although fellow central defender Chris Barker handed the Essex-club a huge boost with his inclusion. Skipper Barker was a shock starter at the Crown Ground having initially been ruled out for the next couple of weeks with a Grade One tear to his groin. Graham Coughlan, who partnered Barker at the weekend, is again on standby should Phillips not make it, while Paul Sturrock must decide whether central defender Bilel Mohsni is ready for a recall. Striker Neil Harris and midfielder Jemal Johnson dropped to the bench against Accrington and will be pushing for inclusion from the off. Barry Corr (knee) and Blair Sturrock (ankle) continue to make progress with their rehabilitation but the encounter comes too soon.

Match Report
Crawley prove League credentials Matt Tubbs scored two second-half goals in the space of two minutes as Football League newcomers Crawley continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Southend. Southend, who had opened their league campaign with two victories, were outplayed in the second half and Tubbs could easily have scored a hat-trick. Defender Dean Howell gave Town the lead after 56 minutes when he caught out `keeper Glenn Morris with a shot-come-cross which sailed into the roof of the net following a pass from Tyrone Barnett. Tubbs doubled the hosts` advantage in the 68th minute, sending Morris the wrong way from the penalty spot after substitute Bilel Mohsni had brought down Barnett. Tubbs then headed the third off a post two minutes later following a cross from the left by Howell, and was unlucky not to win another penalty when tumbled over again by Frenchman Mohsni. In the first half, the striker should have hit the target early on when blazing over from a long throw by David Hunt. Goalkeeper Scott Shearer came to Crawley's rescue by diving to save a deflected free-kick by Ryan Hall before keeping out a downward header from Liam Dickinson with his legs. Crawley midfielder Scott Neilson forced Morris to save from his header shortly before the break following good work by Sergio Torres.
