Coventry City cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a convincing win against non-league Kidderminster Harriers. Goals from Leon McKenzie and Leon Best put the home side through in a game which they dominated from start to finish. Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman fielded a strong side for the clash and his players took the game to the visitors. Harriers keeper Adam Bartlett had to be alert in the opening minute when a Freddy Eastwood fired in a cross-cum-shot which he tipped over the bar. The former Newcastle United youngster was called on again ten minutes later when Robbie Simpson's excellent ball found McKenzie in space, but his header was saved well. Simpson was Coventry's main threat in the opening period and he came close to supplying the opener once more when another strong cross was met by Eastwood. The striker's effort headed towards goal, but Martin Riley was able to deflect the ball away for a corner. Coventry controlled the game for the entire first half, but a minute after the restart Harriers' first effort came close to giving them the lead. Dean Bennett received the ball in space 25 yards from goal and smashed a drive towards goal, but Andy Marshall dived to save well. But just as Kidderminster seemed to assert themselves in the game, Coventry took the lead. Michael Doyle's 52nd minute corner - City's 11th of the game - bounced for McKenzie to hit on a half-volley into the corner of the net. The Sky Blues continued to push after the goal and Eastwood, Doyle and McKenzie all had attempts. City striker Best finally wrapped up the game in the 82nd minute when he ran on to Eastwood's through-ball, composed himself and hit a low shot into the corner of the net.
