Match Preview

Okuonghae out for U`s Magnus Okuonghae has been ruled out of Colchester's FA Cup clash with non-league minnows Swindon Supermarine. The defender is set to see a specialist after suffering a recurrence of the ankle injury which sidelined him for a while earlier this season. Pat Baldwin stepped in alongside Paul Reid at centre-half against Brentford in midweek and could keep his place. Skipper Kem Izzet will return to the midfield after sitting out Tuesday night's defeat through suspension. On-loan Bristol City full-back Tommy Williams has missed three matches with a groin problem and will be checked over ahead of kick-off. Steven Gillespie (thigh), Simon Hackney (back), John-Joe O'Toole and Morten Knudsen (both knee) are still on the casualty list. Swindon Supermarine boss Mark Collier should be able to call on the services of midfielder Chris Allen for the trip. The ex-Swindon Town man is expected to be passed fit after sitting out training earlier in the week with a dead leg. Collier has no other injury or suspension concerns as his men bid to topple John Ward's League One side. Allen told the Swindon Advertiser: "We know they are going to have a lot more quality than us but we're hoping that if we can perform as well as we can, we will go close to matching them. "If we can match them for work-rate and desire then we've got a good chance."

Match Report

Mooney sinks Supermarine Colchester narrowly edged out brave non-league minnows Swindon Supermarine 1-0 in a hard-fought FA Cup second-round tie. The Zamaretto League side performed superbly and had a glorious chance to take a 20th-minute lead when Chris Allen dragged a shot wide from a good position from Ben Wells' incisive pass. And less than a minute later the U's took the lead when David Mooney decisively fired home after Ian Henderson had intelligently flicked on Ashley Vincent's cross at the near post. Henderson fired just over before half-time and Mooney registered two efforts for Colchester just after the break. But Marine were always in the tie and were desperately unlucky not to equalise when Jamie Gosling's effort smacked against the post just before the hour-mark. Colchester keeper Ben Williams denied Wells with eight minutes to go and also palmed away a header from his team-mate Paul Reid to prevent, as the U's held on.
