Massey may make U's bow New loan signing Gavin Massey is in line for his Colchester debut when bottom club Chesterfield come to town. Massey, 19, arrived from Watford on Thursday having penned a one-month deal and the forward will hope to be involved as the Us look to get back to winning ways against a Spireites side who triumphed in the JPT in midweek but have not tasted league success since September. Kayode Odejayi was forced off with an ankle injury just four minutes after appearing as a second-half substitute in last Saturday's 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe but manager John Ward is hopeful the striker will be okay. Defender Matt Heath is also expected to have recovered from the groin problem which has forced him to the sidelines of late, with Tom Eastman performing admirably in his absence. Winger Ashley Vincent is not yet ready to make his comeback from a hamstring injury. Defenders Neal Trotman and Liam Ridehalgh come back into contention for Chesterfield. Centre-half Trotman and on-loan left-back Ridehalgh were cup-tied as John Sheridan's side ended a 12-match winless run in all competitions with victory over League One rivals Oldham in the first leg of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final on Wednesday night. Craig Westcarr missed the tie against the Latics and the league draw at Leyton Orient last weekend because of an ankle injury but Sheridan is hopeful he could be fit to travel to Essex. However, fellow forward Dean Morgan is likely to remain sidelined with a hamstring problem. Midfielder Mark Randall has resumed training after six weeks out with a broken hand but he is short of match fitness and will not be involved. Chesterfield are closing in on an unwanted club record of 21 league matches without a win. The Spireites have gone 17 games in League One without registering a victory since beating Carlisle 4-1 at the b2net Stadium on September 17.

Spireites catch U's napping Bottom-of-the-table Chesterfield stunned Colchester with a hard-earned 2-1 win - their first success since September 17. All three goals came during an entertaining first half, with Jack Lester first on the score-sheet with a well-placed header from Liam Ridehalgh's cross. The striker was unmarked and coolly guided his effort past U's goalkeeper Ben Williams. Colchester forced an equaliser thanks to great work from Karl Duguid. The ball reached Steven Gillespie and the striker, fresh from scoring in last week's draw against Scunthorpe, drove a precise, low effort past Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee. Colchester appeared to be in the ascendancy, but it was Chesterfield who grabbed what proved their winner in the 44th minute. Ridehalgh delivered a free-kick from the right and Josh Thompson, having just gone agonisingly close with a header, rose highest to send an unstoppable effort past Williams.
