No new worries for Ward Colchester have no new injury worries for Friday night's visit of Bournemouth. Defender Marc Tierney, who missed the FA Cup defeat at Swansea with a virus, looks to have played his last game for the Us with a move to Norwich almost complete. Boss John Ward is making enquiries in the loan market but if he cannot get someone in, Lee Beevers will continue at left-back. Winger Ashley Vincent missed out at Swansea with a sore ankle and returns to the squad along with rookie midfielder Ben Coker, who was cup-tied. New signings Conor Powell and Matthias Vilhjalmsson will not be considered yet, while defenders Magnus Okuonghae, Brian Wilson (both ankle) and Morten Knudsen and midfielder John-Joe O'Toole (both knee) are still out. Bournemouth make the trip without Ryan Garry. The Cherries can move back into second place with a win at the Weston Homes Community Stadium but Garry will not contribute. The former Arsenal trainee is a week away from a return to action after a shin injury. Eddie Howe has no new injury or suspension problems and is buoyed by the return to full fitness of Michael Symes. The striker recovered from back and thigh injuries to make a substitute's appearance in the 3-0 win over Plymouth in which he hit the post. Goalkeeper Jon Stewart could feature on the bench after a scan showed that he had not damaged his finger, and midfielder Shaun Cooper could also be in contention after a calf problem. Howe's position as manager remains in doubt because, after turning down moves to Crystal Palace and Charlton, the club have now received an official approach from Burnley.

Gillespie ruins Howe farewell Colchester United striker Steven Gillespie fired a late brace to hand his side a 2-1 victory against Bournemouth. The Cherries had looked to be going home with all three points after Steve Fletcher's 54th-minute header. It would have been the perfect present for departing boss Eddie Howe, who confirmed after the game that he is set to take over at Burnley. But Gillespie ruined his night with a double strike in the last 14 minutes. First, he steered the ball home after a low cross-shot from debutant Ben Coker. Then, seven minutes from time, he showed composure to send a close-range lob over Cherries goalkeeper Shwan Jalal. It was no more than the hosts deserved because they did superbly to fight back after going behind. David Mooney squandered two chances, first after miscuing a header and then being denied one-on-one by Jalal. Anthony Wordsworth curled a free-kick onto the post and the same player felt he should have had a penalty after a tussle with Marvin Bartley. Bournemouth thought they had scored a winner after Fletcher rose to header home Liam Feeney's cross. But it was not to be and Howe's reign ended in defeat.
