Match Report

Willy Gueret single-handedly kept Swansea at the top of the table after his late penalty save earned the hosts a point.

The Swans keeper made a super save from Neil Danns' 82nd minute penalty to make sure the Welshmen stay at the summit of League One after Alan Tate had fouled Chris Iwelumo.

Iwelumo had opened the scoring when he got the better of the offside trap to beat Gueret on 13 minutes, only for a perfectly executed Andy Robinson free-kick to level matters on the half-hour mark.

And both sides had chance to snatch the win before Gueret's brilliant stop made sure the spoils were shared.

Swansea, unchanged from the midweek victory over Scunthorpe, started with the confidence now accustomed at The Liberty Stadium given their position at the top of League One.

And it was one of the goalscorers from that night that provided the game with its first chance, Robinson seeing his shot whistle wide of Aidan Davison's post after some neat build up play and an intelligent through ball by rookie midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones.

The seventh minute chance was no less than the hosts deserved as they pegged back the in-form U's, but they almost let their good start go to waste on 11 minutes when some sloppy defending allowed Danns to shoot and the Swans had to thank Gueret for his smart reactions.

But two minutes later and Gueret was unable to stop Iwelumo grabbing his 10th league goal of the campaign when Swansea's failure to clear their lines cost them dear and the striker was left with a free shot on goal.

Swansea continued to frustrate their fans with some simple unforced errors spoiling their otherwise good play but they eventually made the breakthrough on the half-hour mark.

Wayne Brown pushed star striker Lee Trundle on the edge of the box and up stepped Robinson to curl home the resulting free-kick for his second strike in the space of a week.
