Match Report

Chester City's poor start to the season continued as they were condemned to defeat by Wycombe Wanderers.

After conceding 11 goals in their first two games, including a 6-0 drubbing against Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend, they were sunk by a goal in each half after another poor performance, which left the sparse home crowd of only 1,419 crowd booing at the end.

The visitors took the lead in the 26th minute when a long ball from Craig Woodman ran all the way to John Mousinho, who lifted it over the stranded keeper John Danby and into the net.

Both Damien Mozika and Tommy Doherty went into the book in what was a scrappy first half with both sides wasteful with possession.

Chester looked brighter at the start of the second period and were denied in the 50th minute when a cross found its way to Ryan Lowe at the back post and his goalbound effort was brilliant beaten away by keeper Scott Shearer.

Tony Dinning wasted a good shooting opportunity by firing his effort well over the bar and Kevin Ellison headed wide just after the hour mark.

In the 63rd minute a pass from Ellison set Lowe clean through on goal but the striker's shot was saved by the legs of the keeper.

Wycombe added a second in the 66th minute when they were awarded a penalty which was dispatched by Scott McGleish after Chris Zebroski had been brought down in the box by Laurence Wilson.

A late Leon Johnson header then cannoned back off the bar as Wycombe coasted to victory.
