Match Preview
Chelsea versus Arsenal at Stamford Bridge was expected to be one of the defining games in the race for this season's Premier League table.
But with the Gunners currently ten points off the pace set by Sunday's hosts and having already lost two games more than they did all last season on route to finishing in fourth place, this fixture looks being little more than a face-saving exercise for Arsene Wenger's side.
Last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City appeared to be the final nail in their disappointing title challenge - but the Frenchman will still be hoping to rain on other challengers' title hopes during the remaining months of this season.
Chelsea also have something of a point to prove after their march towards a first league crown under Luiz Felipe Scolari stuttered with last weekend's goalless home draw with Newcastle United.
Wednesday's 1-1 Champions League draw with Bordeaux also provided more questions that answers about their current form.
The Blues looked like they missed the attacking force of Didier Drogba during last weekend's stalemate and the Ivory Coast striker will once again be absent this Sunday following his Carling Cup coin-throwing incident.
Nicolas Anelka will be hoping to get back on the goal trial which saw the France striker net eight times in just four domestic prior to last weekend.
What will delight Scolari though is the fact that his side have not conceded a goal in the Premier League for five games - a record stretching back to their only defeat this season at the hands of Liverpool in October.
That impressive record has been achieved despite the absence of John Terry's regular central defensive partner Ricardo Carvalho through injury.
The Portugal defender could return from a knee injury on Sunday should Scolari decide to drop his impressive deputies Branislav Ivanovic or Alex to the bench.
Elsewhere, Michael Essien (knee), Juliano Belletti (ankle) and Franco di Santo (hamstring) are all unavailable.
Arsenal will be hoping to build on the momentum of a midweek Champions League victory for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners bounced back from a turbulent weekend to defeat Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 on Tuesday under the leadership of new skipper Cesc Fabregas to book their place in the knock-out stages of the tournament.
Recently deposed captain William Gallas also returned to the starting line-up following his weekend dropping and brought some experience back to a youthful squad.
Emmanuel Adebayor could return from injury to provide a similar boost up front, but Bacary Sagna (ankle), Theo Walcott (shoulder), Eduardo da Silva (broken leg) and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) will again miss out.

Match Report
Robin van Persie scored twice as Arsenal came from behind to beat league leaders Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had taken a first-half lead through an own goal by Johan Djourou but the west Londoners, who had not conceded a second-half league goal all season, succumbed to the Dutchman's brilliant finishing.
The Blues remain at the top of the league table but Arsenal are now closing in and are now serious title challengers.
Chelsea supplied the early pressure with a problematic offside and a possible penalty both going against the home side.
Arsenal countered with a period of excellent possession forcing Chelsea to concede a couple of corners.
One attack saw Petr Cech spill a 12-yard shot by Cesc Fabregas on 13 minutes The Spanish midfielder followed this up a minute later with a vicious right-footer - but this time Cech was equal to the effort.

Frank Lampard beat the Arsenal defence on 23 minutes, passing the ball to Jose Bosingwa on the right, before continuing his run.

The home side made the breakthrough on 30 minutes when a quick throw-out by Almunia resulted in a loss of possession by Arsenal.
The ball was fed to Bosingwa on the right. His inch-perfect cross into the Arsenal area led to Djourou poking his right foot out and redirecting the ball into his own net from six yards out.
Chelsea continued to dominate possession early in the second half and should have doubled their lead in the 51st minute. A quick break saw the ball fall to Lampard just outside the Arsenal area, but the midfielder scuffed a left-footed effort wide of the goal.
But Arsenal, with their first attack of the half, levelled on 59 minutes. From a clear offside position van Persie collected a square pass from Denilson just outside the Chelsea area.
The Dutchman took just one step forward before blasting a right-footer past a helpless Cech.
Two minutes later and Arsenal were ahead. A long ball by Gael Clichy found Emmanuel Adebayor who headed down to van Persie. He swivelled and unleashed a low left footer across Cech's body and into the left-hand corner of the net.
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari brought on winger Florent Malouda for Mikel on 69 minutes.
The Frenchman's first taste of the action was to send a free-kick high into the seating behind Almunia's goal on 77 minutes.
Scolari introduced debutant Miroslav Stoch on 81 minutes for Deco. However, he didn't touch the ball and Chelsea have now dropped 12 league points at home.
