Match Report

Liam Dickinson secured Blackpool's first home win since October with two second-half goals to leave Charlton Athletic rock-bottom of the Championship table.

The on-loan frontman now has four goals in two appearances since a deadline day move and his arrival seems to have turned the fortunes for a buoyant Blackpool side.

After a slow start to the match it was the visitors who first troubled the goal when a floated cross from left-back Jay McEveley set up Andy Gray at the back post but his effort was smashed straight at the keeper.

Midway through the first half, Pool began to assert their dominance and the flurry of chances gave Nicky Weaver something of a scare in the Charlton goal.

The best of these came when Dickinson connected to a Lee Hendrie corner to force a diving save from the keeper.

Pool's barrage of chances came after the break deadly Dickinson was the man to turn home the header after Hendrie again found him unmarked in the box from Blackpool's tenth corner.

Just ten minutes later the lead was doubled as the tricky striker latched on to fellow loan star Kyel Reid's through ball.

The unfortunate Weaver made a good one-on-one save only to see the in-form Dickinson slot home a comfortable rebound.

Charlton looked to hit back quickly and on the hour-mark midfielder Nicky Bailey came close for the visitors.

He gathered the ball on the edge of the area and launched a lofted effort which Paul Rachubka managed to tip onto his own crossbar.

That was as close as the visitors would come as Simon Grayson's men comfortably held on for a well deserved three home points.
