Powell switches back to strongest line-up Charlton boss Chris Powell will revert to his first-choice starting line-up for the visit of Tranmere. Powell made six changes to his side as they were beaten 3-0 by Brentford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Wednesday night. Ben Hamer will return in goal while Chris Solly, Michael Morrison and Rhoys Wiggins come back in defence. Danny Hollands reclaims his place in midfield and top scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips returns alongside Paul Hayes in attack. John Sullivan, Andy Hughes, Gary Doherty, Cedric Evina, Mikel Alonso and Danny Green all drop out while Scott Wagstaff, who played up front against the Bees, will revert to the right wing. Midfielder Bradley Pritchard is still on the sidelines with a foot injury and defender Leon Cort is on international duty with Guyana. Tranmere captain John Welsh will have to sit out due to a one-match suspension. The midfielder missed Rovers' Johnstone's Paint Trophy game with Accrington, but as the game was abandoned, the ban carries over when they travel to The Valley. Manager Les Parry told the club's official website: "John can't play against Charlton which is ridiculous. I'd have thought the sensible thing to do in the circumstances would be that he can't play the next time we play against Accrington." Striker Adam McGurk will have a late fitness test on the groin injury which kept him out of the game with Stanley. Parry has also confirmed that Martin Devaney and Andy Robinson (both hamstring) are still sidelined.

Jackson spares Addicks' blushes Johnnie Jackson's penalty ensured npower League Two leaders Charlton claimed a 1-1 draw against Tranmere at the Valley. The visitors began brightly with Lucas Akins and Joss Labadie both trying their luck with long range shots in the opening minutes. Addicks defender Matt Taylor made a vital headed interception to prevent Enoch Showunmi meeting Dave Raven's cross and Rovers went even closer from the corner when Ian Goodison headed over. However, Tranmere didn't have long to wait to get their noses in front as Adam McGurk's 33rd-minute 20-yard strike took a deflection off Chris Solly and flew beyond the reach of Charlton goalkeeper Ben Hamer. The home side were almost level six minutes into the second half in bizarre circumstances when the ball was placed inches wide of his own post by Tranmere captain Ash Taylor. But Charlton were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute when Yann Kermorgant was bundled over by Goodison in the area from Jackson's corner. There were several protests from the Tranmere players while Jackson waited to take the spot kick but the Charlton skipper kept his composure and made no mistake from 12 yards to maintain the leaders' unbeaten record.
