Match Preview

Benson banned for Addicks Charlton will be without suspended striker Paul Benson for the visit of Swindon after he was sent off in the New Year's Day draw at Colchester. Benson scored a late equaliser to make it 3-3 but was then shown a red card two minutes from time for a foul on John White. Manager Phil Parkinson was not convinced by the referee's decision, and said: "I'm a bit frustrated, it was a yellow card at the absolute most." The Addicks will be without striker Akpo Sodje (shoulder) for another two weeks, while forward Joe Anyinsah was left out of the squad for the Us clash as he continues to be plagued by spinal injuries. Leading scorer Johnnie Jackson made it three penalties in two league games against his former club to bring his tally to 10 for the season. Swindon manager Danny Wilson will give defender Alan Sheehan as much time as possible to declare himself fit. The former Leicester and Leeds full-back was forced off after 70 minutes of the 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth and is a doubt for the trip to The Valley. Michael Rose, who replaced him for the final 20 minutes on Saturday, is the man likely to step in and fill the void if Sheehan does not recover in time. Jonathan Douglas will definitely miss out as he serves the final game of a three-match ban, but Wilson has no other new injury or suspension worries. Goalkeeper David Lucas could rejoin the squad following a knee injury but would have to settle for a place on the bench as the Robins look to return to winning ways following two defeats and a draw in the last three games.

Match Report

Robins rally for Valley win Swindon came from behind to inflict a shock 4-2 defeat on Charlton at The Valley. The Addicks took the lead in controversial circumstances midway through the first half, with Swindon players furiously protesting that Paul Benson had handled in the build up to Johnnie Jackson's deflected opening goal. The visitors were back on level terms after 41 minutes as Rob Elliot failed to hold on to Matt Ritchie's header, and the Robins man reacted quickly to stab the spilled ball past the Addicks` goalkeeper. A mistake by Charlton captain Christian Dailly gifted Swindon a second goal 11 minutes after the restart, with Charlie Austin taking full advantage to fire the visitors in front from 18 yards. Sean Morrison headed home Jon-Paul McGovern's 77th-minute free-kick before Austin added Swindon's fourth goal of the game four minutes later with a header. Pawel Abbott pulled one back for the hosts after 87 minutes but it was scant consolation for the home fans, who vented their anger towards manager Phil Parkinson at the final whistle.
