Match Preview
Haynes hopes for Addicks debut Danny Haynes could make his Charlton debut when the leaders host promotion rivals Sheffield United. The striker became the latest addition to manager Chris Powell's bulging squad when he was signed from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee last week. Powell has a fully-fit squad to choose from after midfielder Dale Stephens recovered from the ankle injury which had sidelined him since October. Powell now has so many options winger Scott Wagstaff and striker Paul Hayes, who were regulars for the first half of the season, did not even make the bench for last weekend's 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday. That victory left the Addicks four points clear of the second-placed Blades and seven ahead of Huddersfield in third. Sheffield United winger Ryan Flynn could return to the squad for the top-of-the-table clash. Flynn has missed the last two games through illness but has proved his fitness this week and will be in contention. Manager Danny Wilson has no new injury or suspension problems and is unlikely to change his starting line-up following successive wins over Yeovil (4-0) and Bury (3-0). Defender Marcus Williams, midfielder Nick Montgomery and striker James Beattie may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench again as the Blades look to cut the gap on leaders Charlton to a single point. Defender Andy Taylor, sidelined for over a year with knee ligament damage, is edging closer to a return but will not be rushed back as he builds up his match fitness. The Blades have won 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Match Report
Jackson Captain Fantasic Johnnie Jackson's first-half free-kick secured Charlton a 1-0 home win over second-placed Sheffield United and strengthened their title ambitions. Both sides finished with 10-men after substitutes Darel Russell and James Beattie saw red late on and although the Blades began brightly, they were undone when Charlton were awarded a free-kick following a foul on Danny Hollands by Neil Collins 25 yards from Steve Simonsen's goal. Addicks skipper Jackson scored in almost identical circumstances in last week's 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday and repeated the feat by smashing his 21st-minute free-kick past Simonsen to put the leaders in front. United had a goal ruled out after Richard Cresswell was adjudged to have fouled goalkeeper Ben Hamer, while Harry Maguire headed just over the crossbar before the break. Hamer almost gifted the Blades a 67th-minute equaliser when the Addicks keeper dropped the ball, but Ched Evans failed to capitalise and placed his shot over the bar. Both teams were reduced to 10 men in the 85th minute when Addicks substitute Russell went in for a challenge on Kevin McDonald with his studs showing and Beattie received his marching orders for violent conduct after an offence spotted by the linesman in the melee that followed.
