Match Preview

Leaders Charlton unchanged Charlton could be unchanged again for the visit of Preston. Boss Chris Powell has named the same side for the past three matches and seen his side record three wins, including a 4-0 thumping of Hartlepool last weekend. However, winger Scott Wagstaff pressed his claims for a place in the starting line-up with a goalscoring cameo as a substitute at Victoria Park. Dale Stephens has lost his place in central midfield to Andy Hughes and will hope to make the bench at least having been overlooked on Saturday. Midfielder Bradley Pritchard remains the only injury absentee as he recovers from a broken metatarsal. Powell is eager for the Addicks to continue their stint at the top of League One, telling the club's website: "We are extremely happy where we are and it's up to us to keep the results going and do our best to stay there." Strike duo Iain Hume and Neil Mellor are still major doubts as the injury worries mount up for Preston manager Phil Brown. Respective knee and ankle problems mean Hume and Mellor are unlikely to return as the Lilywhites look to halt a run of six winless matches. Fellow forward Jamie Proctor is also ruled out after undergoing a hernia operation this week. Goalkeeper Iain Turner could face a month on the sidelines after suffering a suspected broken foot in training on Monday. Danny Mayor (hamstring) misses out but Barry Nicholson is pushing for a starting place in the Preston midfield after appearing from the bench in the last week's home games with Oldham and Bournemouth.

Match Report

Jackson leads from front Charlton skipper Johnnie Jackson struck twice as the npower League One leaders hammered hapless Preston 5-2 at The Valley. The Addicks took the lead in the 16th minute after Danny Green's shot was pushed out by Andreas Arestidou into the path of Jackson and the captain drilled a low shot into the net. Michael Morrison pounced to double the advantage six minutes later after Bradley Wright-Phillips' initial shot was cleared off the goalline. Arestidou fouled Yann Kermorgant in the box after the Charlton striker latched on to a poor back header from Brian McLean and Jackson made no mistake from the penalty spot for the his second of the afternoon in the 27th minute. Wright-Phillips capitalised on more poor defending to head the hosts further ahead seven minutes before half-time. Danny Green headed home an excellent 69th-minute Rhoys Wiggins cross to make it 5-0. Preston pulled two late goals back through Craig Moran's 85th-minute header and Keammar Daley's stoppage-time shot, but this was definitely a day Preston boss Phil Brown will want to forget.
