Match Preview

No new problems for Addicks Leaders Charlton could be unchanged for the visit of Oldham. Captain Johnnie Jackson and fellow midfielder Dale Stephens remain on the sidelines but the Addicks have no new injury worries. Jackson is recovering from a hamstring injury and Stephens misses out against his old club after undergoing an ankle operation. Centre-half Matt Taylor will skipper the Addicks again in the absence of Jackson while on-loan duo Hogan Ephraim and Darel Russell will fill their midfield berths. Russell returned from a calf strain for the 1-1 draw at Walsall last weekend and came through unscathed. Midfielder Andy Hughes and full-back Cedric Evina have not figured lately but will hope to make the bench against their former employers. Paul Dickov is set to select from the same Oldham squad that secured an FA Cup glamour-tie with Liverpool in midweek. Full-back Kieran Lee and top scorer Shefki Kuqi picked up minor knocks as a result of a pair of heavy challenges in Tuesday`s replay triumph over Southend, but both have been passed fit. The past week has produced mixed fortunes for two of Latics` long-term injury victim. Bradley Diallo has spent two-and-a-half months on the sidelines with a badly torn hamstring, but the midfielder is pencilled in for a reserve-team appearance against Bolton next Tuesday. The news is less encouraging for Reuben Reid, who was due to return to training this week from a torn thigh muscle, but a setback means the striker is still a fortnight away from a return to action.

Match Report

Latics won't yield to leaders Filipe Morais's84th-minute equaliser cancelled out Darel Russell's second-half opener to earn Oldham a 1-1 draw at leaders Charlton. Danny Green should have fired the Addicks into the lead in the 33rd minute when he broke clear on goal, but the winger placed his low shot wide of Alex Cisak's post. Oldham offered little going forward, but were still able to force the first save of the game when Chris Taylor's long-range effort was tipped over the crossbar by Ben Hamer. Bradley Wright-Phillips hit the side-netting within a minute of the restart to hint at a more promising second period and then the prolific striker was denied by a crucial save from Cisak as he attempted to round the Oldham goalkeeper. Charlton's early second-half pressure eventually paid off as the leaders went in front on the hour when Matt Taylor's right-wing cross was headed home by Russell from six yards. But Oldham were back on terms six minutes from time as Morais drilled home a stunning shot from 15 yards beyond Hamer.
