Match Preview
Thirlwell missing for Cumbrians Carlisle will be without injured skipper Paul Thirlwell for the home clash with Brighton. The midfielder strained knee ligaments in last week's win at Sheffield Wednesday and will be sidelined for up to four weeks. Manager Greg Abbott has several options available to him as he looks to re-jig his midfield, with player-manager Graham Kavanagh, Ben Marshall and Matty Robson all ready to step up to fill the void. Abbott has no other new injury worries, but Marc Bridge-Wilkinson is still struggling with an ankle problem, fellow midfielder Kevan Hurst (back) is not ready for first-team action and Danny Livesey (groin) has targeted a return to full training next month. Abbott's side, unbeaten at home in the league this season, could leapfrog Peterborough into top spot with victory. Brighton skipper Gordon Greer returns to the squad. The defender recently completed a three-match ban but his comeback was then delayed by a calf injury picked up during a practice match. His return will give manager Gus Poyet a selection dilemma after the Seagulls secured a fine 2-0 win over MK Dons last weekend. Goalkeeper Peter Brezovan (wrist) and defender Lewis Dunk (foot) proved their fitness in the reserves this week after injury lay-offs so midfielder Alan Navarro (cruciate) is the only long-term absentee. Poyet is set to recall Argentinian midfielder Agustin Battipiedi, who was omitted from the squad last Saturday but has impressed in training during the week.

Match Report
Carlisle fire a blank Early pacesetters Carlisle's failed to find the ammunition to break down a resolute Brighton defence although they kept their unbeaten run going with a 0-0 draw. The Cumbrians had most of the play but ran out of ideas after a positive start which should have had them at least a couple of goals in front. James Berrett fired an early snap-shot inches wide then Francois Zoko's cross from the left nearly led to an own goal by Adam Al Abd. Carlisle's slick passing had Brighton on the back foot and it took a fine diving save from Casper Ankergren to keep out Tom Taiwo's downward header after neat work by Gary Madine on the left Madine was next to miss out when a fraction away from making contact with Craig Curran's angled ball six yards out when any kind of touch would have been enough. Former Carlisle striker Glenn Murray had to wait until the 66th minute for his first chance but after eluding the home defence he slid his shot wide without troubling keeper Adam Collin. Curran was a whisker away from converting Frank Simek's pinpoint cross but Brighton showed more adventure after the break and Ashley Barnes almost snatched the win in added time when he put his close-range header straight at Collin.
