Match Preview

Bluebirds wait on Olofinjana Cardiff will hope to have Seyi Olofinjana back in the fold for their lunchtime kick-off at home to Millwall. The influential on-loan midfielder, who last featured with a match-winning display against parent club Hull two weeks ago, has missed the defeats to Leicester and Ipswich. However, Olofinjana may have recovered from a foot injury in time to take his place against the Lions. Jay Bothroyd (calf) started last Saturday's 2-0 loss at Portman Road and should be fit, but fellow striker Craig Bellamy (knee) is again likely to miss out. On-loan Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater (thigh) and striker Michael Chopra (ankle) are both looking to make their returns after the international break in October. Millwall welcome back Jimmy Abdou, Kevin Lisbie and Theo Robinson. Midfielder Abdou sat out Tuesday night's Carling Cup exit at the hands of Ipswich due to an ankle injury but will be fit to travel. Lisbie was not eligible to face his parent club and fellow loan striker Robinson was cup-tied. Boss Kenny Jackett has doubts over wingers Danny Schofield and James Henry, who both picked up knocks against the Tractor Boys and will need late checks. Defender Tony Craig made his first appearance since breaking a metatarsal during last season's play-off final and could keep his place. Darren Carter, Andrew Frampton (both ankle), Shaun Batt (knee) and John Marquis (wrist) are still in the treatment room.

Match Report

Keogh earns Bluebirds points Andy Keogh`s 89th-minute header earned a 2-1 win and got Cardiff out of jail as they looked set to waste the chance to return to winnings ways against a hard-working Millwall side who battled for more than 50 minutes with only 10 men. The on-loan Wolves man, who otherwise endured a quiet afternoon, picked the perfect moment to grab his first goal of the season and banish back-to-back defeats for the npower Championship promotion hopefuls. City were anything but impressive, though, and the result was harsh on a Millwall side who had Liam Trotter sent off for a bad foul on Darcy Blake, and quickly had David Forde to thank for producing a superb save to keep out Peter Whittingham`s penalty. Lions defender Scott Barron had handed the visitors an early lead with a rare strike only to see Jay Bothroyd level matters with his fifth goal of the season midway through an eventful first half. The second period failed to live up to the same billing with Cardiff lacking inspiration and Millwall working tirelessly, but it was the hosts who snatched the points in dramatic fashion to leave Kenny Jackett`s side now winless in five. Cardiff, still without the injured Craig Bellamy, Michael Chopra, Danny Drinkwater and Seyi Olofinjana, struggled to get into their rhythm in the opening quarter of the encounter, giving possession away cheaply. And Millwall capitalised fully on their sloppy play when they broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes. Kevin Lisbie found Barron in a good position and he fired low past Tom Heaton from the left-hand side of the six-yard box. The visitors continued to hold the upper hand although openings had dried up after their early strike, and the tide of play swung into the hosts` favour as they equalised in the 24th minute. Lee Naylor`s long throw found Whittingham and his stab goalwards was blocked as far as Bothroyd who duly found the bottom corner from close range. That was the first of what could have been a quickfire hat-trick for the Bluebirds frontman, although Lisbie and Trotter were both giving the Cardiff rearguard plenty to think about at the other end. Yet Jackett was soon forced to reconsider his side`s approach when Trotter saw a straight red five minutes before the break. And he was spared further half-time headache in injury time when Forde produced a great save to keep out Whittingham`s spot-kick after the former Aston Villa man had been brought down by Darren Ward. Cardiff failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage in the opening 20 minutes of an ordinary second half, with Millwall working hard and looking more likely to add to the scoreline if anything. That prompted Dave Jones to introduce the attack-minded Jason Koumas which certainly put City on the front foot with Mark Hudson seeing his header blocked by Paul Robinson and Whittingham blasting over. Neither Forde or counterpart Heaton had been forced to make a single second-half save as the game approached the final 15 minutes. But as the clock ran down Cardiff forced the issue and Keogh was on hand to head home Bothroyd`s cross.
