Schumacher boosts Shakers Bury are set to be boosted by the return of captain Steven Schumacher for the visit of Tranmere. Schumacher came off the bench as Richie Barker's struggling Shakers rescued a 1-1 draw at Preston last week, making his first appearance since suffering a hamstring injury against Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month. On-loan West Brom forward Lateef Elford-Alliyu came off the bench to snatch an injury-time point at Deepdale and will push for a place in the starting line-up. Midfielder Peter Sweeney is back in the reckoning after completing a three-game ban, but forward Lenell John-Lewis remains on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Bury are without a win in 13 npower League One matches and sit three points outside the relegation zone with seven games remaining. Adam McGurk could return to the Tranmere squad when Ronnie Moore's in-form side travel to Gigg Lane. McGurk has been sidelined since suffering a broken cheekbone in the defeat to Chesterfield earlier this month and the forward is yet to feature under Moore, who has inspired Rovers to a six-match unbeaten run since replacing Les Parry in the Prenton Park hotseat. "He got the all clear from the hospital on Wednesday, the fracture has healed," Moore told Tranmere Player. "It's just a matter of when we fit him into the first-team squad." Moore's attacking options have been boosted further by Mustafa Tiryaki's return to Merseyside following the end of his loan spell at Cambridge, although Jake Cassidy is pushing for a start in attack following goals in his last two cameos during the wins over Rochdale and Exeter. Martin Devaney is making good progress on his return from a hamstring injury but is still a week away from action and fellow midfielder James Wallace is set for two weeks on the sidelines with a similar problem. Defender Mark McChrystal remains absent as he steps up his recovery from hernia surgery.
