Managerless Bury were left cursing their luck as they crashed to a fourth defeat in five away games - 2-1 at Oxford - to slip to the bottom of League Two. Essex referee Ray Lee awarded Oxford a penalty when Matt Robinson was tripped by Andy Parrish, but refused Bury one for an identical foul in the box on Stuart Barlow by Lee Mansell. And to compound there sense of injustice, the Shakers saw Oxford open the scoring with a fluke. Craig Davies badly miscued his shot from Eric Sabin's cross, yet it flew straight to Mansell who prodded home his first goal for the club. Two minutes later came the harsh penalty award, and Lee Bradbury blasted the spot-kick into the roof of the net to put Oxford two-up. Bury gave it a real go in the second half and Oxford goalkeeper Billy Turley saved well from Barlow. Seven minutes from the end substitute Thomas Kennedy pulled a goal back with a low left-footed shot after escaping marker Davies.
