Macclesfield are still fighting for Football League survival after losing 1-0 at Bury.
The Silkmen are now just four points above the drop zone in League Two following Elliott Bennett's first-half winner.
The early stages were extremely competitive with Bury looking to assert themselves on proceedings but battling Macclesfield giving as good as they got.
In fact it was the Silkmen who enjoyed the better of the first half chances, although neither side really threatened the opposition goal.Neil Ashton was well off target with a free-kick from a promising position, while Francis Green also lashed wildly over from inside the box.
But just minutes before the break, Bury suddenly came to life.Paul Scott had a goal disallowed for offside but almost immediately after, Andy Bishop squared for Bennett to rifle past Jonny Brain.
Boosted by their goal, Bury came out all guns blazing in the second half.David Buchanan blasted over the bar from a good position and Bennett too couldn't capitalise on a good chance inside the area.
Bishop also spurned a glorious late chance, but it was comfortable for Bury.
