Macclesfield Town suffered a recurring nightmare as they yet again let a lead slip to record their eighth league draw of the season.
Bury's battling fightback however, saw the Shakers extend their unbeaten sequence to eight games as Chris Casper's men continued to develop a never-say-die spirit.
After conceding two goals in the first half, Bury bit back immediately when Andy Mangan capitalised on a fatal hesitation from Macc centre-back Luke Dimech to lob the keeper from the edge of the box.
They then equalised on 64 minutes when former Bury player Terry Dunfield needlessly kicked out at Mangan allowing Nicky Adams to score from the spot.
It was Bury who might have stolen all three points at the death with Macc keeper Tommy Lee making a breathtaking save to claw wide a Richie Baker free-kick in the 73rd minute before ten minutes later Andy Bishop picked out Lee with a simple header from eight yards.
Macclesfield dominated the first half with Dunfield and Adam Murray seeing shots slide over the crossbar in the first 20 minutes before they took the lead.
Livewire winger Danny Thomas jinked in from the left flank before lashing a low shot goalbound from a narrow angle that Colin Woodthorpe, standing on his own line, could only hoof into the roof of his own net.
Macclesfield nearly extended their lead on 36 minutes when right winger Levi Reid moved inside before crunching a 25-yard drive off the crossbar.
They looked to seal the game on the stroke of half-time when Francis Green picked out strike partner Martin Gritton who found the far corner with a clinical finish for his sixth goal of the season.
