Match Report

A stoppage-time equaliser from substitute Ricky Shakes edged Kidderminster closer to a Conference return.

They looked set for a priceless win in their relegation battle when they fought back gamely after conceding a soft early goal.

But just when it looked as though they would trim relegation rivals Rushden's advantage to two points, they allowed Bury to gain a last-gasp equaliser.

With only four games remaining manager Stuart Watkiss and his men must know that their five-year stay in the Football League looks set to come to a sorry end.

On paper this game looked like their best chance of a win in the final stages of a miserable season. But they were slow out of the blocks and were a goal down after just nine minutes.

Poor marking from Brian Barry-Murphy's corner on the right allowed Chris Porter to rise unchallenged at the near post to head his third goal against Kidderminster this season, having netted twice in the 4-0 drubbing at Gigg Lane in August.

But Harriers showed they were up for a fight when they levelled within three minutes.

Simon Russell's sweet pass through the middle found Blair Sturrock on the burst and he easily beat the advancing keeper to take his season's goal tally to six.

Dean Keates went close to giving the home side the lead before half-time with a rasping 20-yard shot that forced a good save from Glyn Garner.

After the break Bury should have gone back in front when Barry-Murphy put in Colin Kazim-Richards, but the striker volleyed over from 12 yards with the goal at his mercy.

Kidderminster went ahead in the 81st minute when Garner parried a Tom Bennett cross and Keates flung himself full length to head home from six yards.

In the first minute of stoppage time another right-wing corner from Barry-Murphy eluded the home defenders and substitute Shakes forced home the equaliser from close range.
