Match Preview

Stanton set for Brewers return Centre-half Nathan Stanton could return to the Burton squad for the visit of Stockport. The summer signing from Rochdale has missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury but he has resumed training and could put himself in contention for a recall. Boss Paul Peschisolido recalled Greg Pearson in place of Richard Walker against Lincoln, and the Canadian could stick with that strike partnership despite the goalless draw at Lincoln in midweek. "I thought Greg and Shaun (Harrad) were superb, especially in the first half, with their movement and their interchange of play," said Peschisolido. "If you are looking at final third entries, they must have had a dozen each in and around the box. However, nothing dropped for us on Tuesday night." Adam Bolder made his return after a month out with a shoulder injury as a second-half substitute against Lincoln and the midfielder could be included on the bench again. Stockport manager Paul Simpson has no fresh injury worries but could have striker Barry Conlon available again after missing the previous three games. The experienced front-man, who has had 13 clubs during his career, has been on the sidelines since the draw against Bradford but could return to the squad following ankle and knee injuries. Robbie Williams, Jamie Proctor and Jake Simpson will all be hoping to keep their starting places following the midweek 2-2 draw with Accrington, but Matty Mainwaring, James Vincent and Tom Fisher are all pushing for recalls. Fisher is likely to go back into the starting line-up following his goalscoring substitute appearance in midweek, helping his team stage a comeback from 2-0 down to earn a point.

Match Report

Webster inspires Burton turnaround Midfielder Aaron Webster grabbed a second-half double to wreck Stockport's five-game unbeaten run in a 2-1 win at the Pirelli Stadium. The visitors snatched the lead with a breakaway goal in the 19th minute when a flat-footed Burton defence allowed Paul Turnbull to head home a Jake Simpson cross from 12 yards. The rest of the first half belonged to the home team as they battled for the equaliser. Burton top scorer Shaun Harrad hit a post from 15 yards in the 25th minute and also was also denied by the fingertips of Matthew Glennon. Stockport's goal enjoyed a charmed life in added time at the end of the first half when Aaron Webster fired against the woodwork from 20 yards. Glennon produced another fine save after the interval to keep out a Webster free-kick, but the midfielder took his revenge in the 63rd minute to score with a close-range header after a John McGrath corner had been flicked on by Richard Walker. And in a repeat move five minutes later, Webster arrived at the far post to head Burton in front after a McGrath cross was nodded on by Ryan Austin.
