Match Preview

Corbett in line for Brewers return Andy Corbett could return to the Burton squad for the visit of Morecambe. The full-back has been sidelined with a thigh strain but has resumed training. Corbett`s return to fitness could see player of the year Tony James lose his place in the team for the second time this season. James has already lost out to summer recruits Darren Moore and Nathan Stanton at the heart of Albion's defence. He deputised at right-back during the goalless draw at Barnet last week, but boss Paul Peschisolido has hinted that Corbett will get the nod should he be fit. "I haven't fully made my mind up yet and I need to see how he looks in training before I make a decision, but full-back is a specialised position and it needs a certain player in there," said Peschisolido. "Andy fills that criteria, whereas Tony is a centre-half who was asked to play out of position at Barnet." Corbett`s return could be the only change to the side as Albion seek their first goal and first win of the new League Two campaign. Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has no injury or suspension concerns. Midfielder Neil Wainwright remains the only absentee with an injury sustained in pre-season. That means McIlroy is expected to name the same squad that drew 0-0 at home to Rotherham last Saturday. The Shrimps have made dire starts to the previous two campaigns and have so far collected just one point from two games this term. Yet McIlroy is refusing to be downbeat, and said: "We have had terrible starts the last two years but I am confident that that won't be the case this year. "We proved last year that it is a long season and the signs are pretty promising at the moment."

Match Report

Pearson helps Brewers to victory Burton came from behind to beat Morecambe 3-2 and register their first win of the campaign thanks to a late Greg Pearson penalty. Both teams opened their League Two scoring account for the season inside eight minutes. Burton enjoyed a flying start when midfielder Aaron Webster made a perfectly-timed run to power home a 12-yard header from full-back Andy Corbett's cross. But the visitors were quickly level as Andrew Fleming neatly tuned home a Darren Moss cross from eight yards. The home side had a great chance to regain the lead in the 43rd minute, but Shaun Harrad was two denied by Barry Roche's double save and Andy Parrish's goalline clearance. A bright start to the second half by Morecambe was rewarded with their second goal in the 51st minute. Phil Jevons' shot came back off the inside of a post but Chris Shuker was on hand to set up Fleming for another close-range finish. Craig Stanley went close to a third goal for the visitors, but Burton came back to level the scores in the 75th minute when Webster pounced from six yards after Morecambe failed to clear Lewis Young`s corner kick. Pearson struck the winner from the spot in the 81st minute after being bundled over by Paul Scott.
