Match Preview

Brewers face problems Burton have defensive problems ahead of the visit of Bradford. Paul Boertien is out for around a month after suffering a recurrence of the calf injury that struck him down earlier this season. Aaron Webster, Albion's only other experienced left-back, faces a fitness battle. He is nursing a calf problem and a dead leg following the defeat to Stevenage last weekend. Boss Paul Peschisolido hopes club skipper Darren Moore will return to action after being rested at the Lamex Stadium to allow him to recover from a hamstring strain. The big centre-back`s availability would enable Peschisolido to switch Andy Corbett to the left-back if Webster joins Boertien on the sidelines. Midfielders John McGrath and Russell Penn are available again after serving one-match suspensions. Bradford striker James Hanson could return to the starting line-up. Hanson returned to the bench for the last two games following a long-term hamstring injury, but manager Peter Taylor may be tempted to start with him alongside Omar Daley. Daley was forced off with a groin strain last week, but has returned to training and is available, while Jason Price, on loan from Carlisle, is also in contention. Defenders Oliver Gill and Reece Brown will play their last games for Bradford before returning to Old Trafford on Monday. Central defender Shane Duff, who has missed the last two games with an Achilles injury, will return to the squad, as will midfielder Tom Adeyemi (ankle). Michael Flynn (hernia), Simon Ramsden (calf) and Gareth Evans (fractured wrist) are still out, and although Robbie Threlfall (back) has returned to training, the defender is not match fit.

Match Report

Brewers rout Bantams Burton ended a three-game losing streak in emphatic style to register their first-ever win against Bradford in a 3-0 triumph. Burton goalkeeper Adam Legzdins was tested by Omar Daley and Dave Sayers, while home striker Shaun Harrad hit a post from six yards. Daley should have put the visitors in front in the 25th minute but fired over a gaping goal from eight yards. Burton went in front six minutes later when Harrad blasted home his eighth goal of the season from the penalty spot after winger Lewis Young had been floored by City goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin. The hosts almost doubled their lead in the 44th minute but on-loan Aston Villa striker James Collins saw his header stay out after hitting the inside of a post. But Collins had to wait only until the 54th minute for his first Burton goal when he met Adam Bolder's cross with a glancing header into the far corner. Russell Penn sealed Burton's win when he swept home a cross from fellow substitute Jimmy Phillips in the 88th minute.
