Match Preview

Ben loss hard to Swallow Bristol Rovers will be without the suspended Ben Swallow when they face Swindon in a local derby in npower League Two. Midfielder Swallow was sent off for a two-footed lunge late on in the Pirates' 6-1 FA Cup second-round win at AFC Totton on Sunday and serves the first game of a three-match ban for the visit of the Robins. Striker Eliot Richards is pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score twice in the same match, but the Welshman will have to oust Mustapha Carayol or Chris Zebroski. Rovers are likely to be without veteran striker Scott McGleish (ankle), while experienced centre-back Adam Virgo has been ruled out for the season with knee ligament damage. Midfielder Wayne Brown (ankle) could also be unavailable for the rest of the term. Swindon will be without key man Matt Ritchie. Winger Ritchie, who has been a prominent figure in the Robins' recent 13-match unbeaten run in all competitions, picked up his fifth booking of the season at Southend in the Johnstone's Paints Trophy southern section area semi-final on Tuesday and serves a one-match ban. Lander Gabilondo and Etienne Esajas will both be looking to make the most of the ex-Portsmouth player's suspension at the Memorial Stadium. Striker Alan Connell will also be absent for Town. The former Grimsby frontman picked up an injury at Roots Hall in midweek and will not be fit enough to feature for manager Paolo Di Canio against Rovers. Attacker Raffaele De Vita is expected to come back into the Swindon side after being rested in the JPT victory over the Shrimpers, while Simon Ferry is challenging for a starting berth in the middle of midfield.

Match Report

Caddis wonder goal earns derby draw A brilliant solo goal from skipper Paul Caddis extended Swindon's unbeaten run to 14 games in a closely fought 1-1 derby draw at Bristol Rovers. Paolo Di Canio's team looked to be heading for a victory at the Memorial Stadium, but had to settle for a point after being pegged back three minutes from time when Danny Woodards headed home a Craig Stanley free-kick. Caddis was allowed to run through Rovers' midfield from his own half before slotting a low left-footed shot past Scott Bevan from the edge of the box on 37 minutes. The right-back's fine effort looked like being the winner until his opposite number Woodards netted for the second successive week. Rovers could have been ahead inside 15 seconds when Matt Harrold got behind the Swindon defence. The striker looked to be clipped from behind by Aden Flint, but kept his balance only for goalkeeper Wes Foderingham to save at his feet. The home side made a bright start, but Swindon came more into the game as it progressed and were well worth their point.
