Match Report

Rickie Lambert grabbed his tenth goal of the season but it wasn't enough to break Bristol Rovers' 19-year hoodoo.

The Pirates have not won in Huddersfield since 1989 despite 11 previous attempts. Michael Flynn gave Town an early lead but they failed to press home the advantage.

Once Lambert had levelled nine minutes after the restart there was only one team in it, but Rovers couldn't overcome their West Yorkshire jinx.

Huddersfield had to be grateful to keeper Matt Glennon who pulled off a series of saves to secure a point they hardly deserved.

It all started so well when Flynn fired home a loose ball after Stuart Campbell tackled Liam Dickinson.

It was Flynn's second goal in successive games and his fifth of the season but Huddersfield, though playing neat football, couldn't break open the Rovers defence.

Darryl Duffy had a clear sight of goal but Glennon deflected his shot wide before Chris Lines headed over.

A great through ball from Lines put Jeff Hughes in but Glennon denied him with his out-stretched boot.

Flynn started the second half as he began the first with a shot from distance, but he was way off-target and that set the tone for a dismal 45 minutes from the home side.

Lambert ensured Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to five matches when he turned home Craig Disley's excellent cross.

Glennon pulled off another fine stop to keep out Lambert's header at the foot of the post and then Disley blasted into the sidenetting from Campbell's corner.

A Duffy header was saved by Glennon and Lambert's drive was blocked by a defender and it became clear that Rovers couldn't overcome recent history.

Flynn had another effort off-target and the home side's desperation was laid bare when Gary Roberts was booked for a blatant dive in the penalty box.
