Burnley have still only won once in the Coca Cola Championship this season as Steve Cotterill's team were held to a draw by fellow strugglers Brighton. To compound matters, the Clarets lost goalkeeper Danny Coyne and veteran central defender John McGreal to injuries. Coyne's loss in particular was unlucky as no other player was involved in the incident which led to the Welsh international being stretchered off the field. Brighton took the lead through the head of Paul McShane. The youngster, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, headed home from a short corner routine and was delighted with his performance: "It's my first goal for Brighton and it's always nice to get on the scoresheet," he said. Burnley's equaliser was also the result of a corner which saw Seagulls left-back Kerry Mayo penalised for shirt-pulling on McGreal. Garreth O'Connor confidently stroked the resultant spot-kick past keeper Wayne Henderson.
