Match Preview

Duo missing for Seagulls Adam El-Abd and Chris Wood will be missing for leaders Brighton when they host Swindon. Defender El-Abd limped off with a hamstring injury during Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Notts County and although the problem is not too serious he will not be ready for the weekend. Tommy Elphick, who returned from a bout of mumps to replace El-Abd in midweek, should start at centre-half. Striker Wood is on international duty with New Zealand and with Ashley Barnes still a doubt after missing out on Tuesday with an ankle knock, Glenn Murray could start on his own up front. Alan Navarro will be on the bench again after playing 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek following a cruciate injury but fellow midfielder Jamie Smith (foot) and defender Jim McNulty (ankle) are still out. Influential centre-back Scott Cuthbert will be available for Swindon. Cuthbert sustained a fractured cheekbone in the draw against Dagenham & Redbridge two weeks ago and, despite playing in last Saturday`s stalemate at Huddersfield, had appeared set for minor surgery. But scan results on Thursday have shown that is not necessary and he will continue at the heart of Town`s defence at the Withdean. Loan signing Alassane N`Diaye is close to match fitness but again looks set to miss out against the Seagulls, while striker Vincent Pericard and defender Milan Misun (both knee) continue to be sidelined. Elliot Benyon, Simon Ferry, Jon-Paul McGovern and Alan O`Brien all gained valuable minutes for the club`s reserves on Monday and are pushing to be involved. Goalkeeper David Lucas should continue having suffered no adverse effects on his return from an arm infection last weekend.

Match Report

Murray bags mint winner for Seagulls Leading scorer Glenn Murray took his tally to 19 with a stunning second-half strike to clinch a seventh consecutive win for Brighton in a 2-1 triumph over struggling Swindon. Murray took his side 13 points clear at the top of League One by expertly dispatching a low shot across keeper David Lucas in the 64th minute. Irish midfielder Gary Dicker put Brighton ahead with a 12th minute penalty but spirited Swindon levelled midway through the first half thanks to a wonder strike by David Prutton. Dicker had a second penalty saved before Murray's clincher and Brighton have now won their last 10 games in a row at home. Brighton broke the deadlock early on when Craig Noone's penetrating run into the area was ended by Andy Frampton chopping him down and Dicker stepped up to send Lucas the wrong way from the penalty spot. Swindon equalised after 22 minutes through former Southampton midfielder Prutton, who scored with a tremendous 25-yard drive into the middle of the goal. Brighton were awarded their second penalty after 61 minutes when Frampton was adjudged to have pushed Murray but Dicker's poorly-struck spot-kick was saved by Lucas. Swindon were unlucky moments later when a fierce shot by Mike Grella cannoned back off the underside of the bar. But Murray restored the Seagulls' lead by superbly drilling home across Lucas and into the far corner.
