Match Preview
Hamer set for bench role Ben Hamer will be back in the Brentford squad for Sunday`s televised visit of Sheffield Wednesday. Goalkeeper Hamer has made 65 league starts for the Bees in three separate loan spells from Reading and returned this week for a fourth stint at the club. However, former Watford keeper Richard Lee is expected to keep hold of the gloves for the time being so he will be on the bench against the Owls. Winger Sam Wood could be back involved after recovering from a back injury while summer signing Kirk Hudson is also close to full fitness following the groin injury which has delayed his debut. Striker Carl Cort has recovered from an Achilles injury and should be involved again while strikers Charlie MacDonald and Gary Alexander will hope to be recalled after being rested for the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy win at Stevenage in midweek.M Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke is expected to return to the starting line-up. Summer signing Coke, named Owls' player of the month for August, was rested for the midweek Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Notts County. Manager Alan Irvine has a selection dilemma as Coke's replacement James O'Connor struck both Wednesday's goals against County, while Darren Potter is also pushing for a return to the side. Winger Jermaine Johnson (knee ligaments) remains the only first-team squad member currently sidelined through injury and while Chris Sedgwick was replaced by Tommy Miller after receiving a knock in midweek, he is not expected to miss out. Clinton Morrison will be hoping to retain his place in the starting XI, with Irvine to decide whether to recall Neil Mellor alongside Marcus Tudgay.

Match Report
Bees sting Wednesday Charlie MacDonald's first-half strike ended Sheffield Wednesday's unbeaten start to the season as Brentford won 1-0 to climb off the foot of the table. MacDonald struck five minutes before the interval when he collected Craig Woodman's cross, swivelled and tucked a low shot past Nicky Weaver and into the net. The Bees were previously without a win but fully deserved all three points. Robbie Simpson had a shot cleared off the line by Mark Beevers and also struck the crossbar with a dipping volley, while Weaver pulled off a fine save to keep out substitute Nicky Adams' fierce drive. Marcus Tudgay came closest for Wednesday but his shot was comfortably saved by Ben Hamer.
