Match Preview

Trio's absence stings Bees Brentford look set to be without strike trio Nicky Forster, Robbie Simpson and Carl Cort for the home game against Peterborough. Forster underwent groin surgery a week ago and although he has stepped up his training, the clash is likely to come too soon. Simpson is not quite ready to return after six weeks out with a hamstring injury and Cort will be out for a while yet after discovering he has a torn Achilles. Boss Andy Scott could be tempted to stick with the side which got back to winning ways with a 3-0 success at Tranmere last weekend. Sam Wood, Marcus Bean and Gary Alexander were recalled to the starting XI and are set to keep their places. Peterborough manager Gary Johnson will have defenders Ryan Bennett and Gabriel Zakuani available. Record signing Bennett missed the 5-4 win over Swindon last weekend with illness but is well enough to be considered this week. And Zakuani could keep his place despite coming off against the Robins with a suspected broken arm. The club have assessed the injury all week and after confirming no break he is in line to play. Forward Lee Tomlin is still suspended as he serves the second of his three-match ban so Arron Davies should continue on the right flank. James Wesolowski is still out as he battles with a knee injury as Posh look for a win which could take them level with leaders Brighton.

Match Report

Bees hit back to sting Posh Strugglers Brentford came from a goal down to clinch a 2-1 win in a hard-fought clash with Peterborough at Griffin Park. The visitors took the lead with a hotly-disputed penalty after 17 minutes, with Michael Spillane adjudged to have handled in the box. But Bees keeper Ben Hamer stopped Grant McCann's spot-kick but was ruled to have moved and the posh midfielder made no mistake on the second attempt. That setback inspired the Bees who drew level on 39 minutes when Craig Woodman whipped home a free-kick from the right after Charlie MacDonald had been hauled down on the edge of the box. Brentford took charge after the break and won it with a superb 58th-minute move, Woodman crossing to the far post where Sam Wood headed back for Gary Alexander to plant a diving header into the top corner. The home side should have wrapped it up as they went on to create a string of chances, the best falling to Alexander who volleyed Miles Weston's far post cross wide of the upright. Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis kept his side in the game with a point-blank stop from Alexander and palmed a Wood effort from 40 yards past the post.
