O'Connor only Bees absentee Kevin O'Connor is Brentford's only injury absentee ahead of the visit of Hartlepool. The club captain faces a couple of months on the sidelines with the foot injury he suffered against Basingstoke in the FA Cup three weeks ago. Fellow midfielder Harry Forrester proved his fitness following a hamstring problem with a run-out for the reserves this week, and defender Karleigh Osborne is also back in training after six weeks out with a foot injury. The Bees are reeling from a double blow after losing to Wrexham in the FA Cup before bowing out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on penalties against Barnet on Tuesday night. Boss Uwe Rosler could therefore make changes with Craig Woodman, Leon Legge and Myles Weston pushing for recalls. Hartlepool forward James Brown could return to contention as caretaker manager Micky Barron takes charge for the first time. Striker Brown has been restricted to eight first-team appearances this season but returned to full training this week following his latest groin injury and is expected to be included in the squad. Barron, placed in temporary charge following the sacking of Mick Wadsworth on Tuesday, could also be boosted by the return of central defender Sam Collins, who has missed the last four games due to a calf strain. Strikers Colin Nish and Colin Larkin are still out with respective knee injuries, but Barron has no new fitness or suspension concerns. Pools, who have lost their last seven home games in all competitions, look to extend their unbeaten away league run to four games and remain just five points adrift of the play-offs.

Bees back to winning ways Brentford recorded their first home win in six weeks in a hard-fought 2-1 success over managerless Hartlepool. The game exploded into life in five pulsating minutes when the Bees took the lead thanks to a goalkeeping blunder by Scott Flinders. Niall McGinn's speculative lob slipped through his hands to gift the home side a lead that they held for just three minutes. Brentford's jittery defence failed to clear a free-kick and Sam Collins' defected effort found the bottom corner. But Uwe Rosler's side sneaked into the play-off places after Toumani Diagouraga was brought down in the area and Gary Alexander fired home the spot-kick at the second attempt. Alexander came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half but his header from point-blank range was straight at Flinders.
