Match Preview

O'Connor missing for Bees Brentford will be without skipper Kevin O'Connor when they host leaders Charlton. The long-serving midfielder damaged ligaments in his foot during last weekend's FA Cup win over Basingstoke. O'Connor will visit a specialist next week to determine the full extent of the injury but boss Uwe Rosler has already ruled him out of the next couple of matches. Fellow midfielder Harry Forrester is back in training after a hamstring injury but is not ready to return to the first team. Centre-half Leon Legge played for the reserves in midweek and is now pushing to make his first start since suffering a torn hamstring at the end of August. Defender Karleigh Osborne is still out with a foot injury. Hogan Ephraim could be handed his Charlton debut. Midfielder Ephraim has joined the League One leaders on loan from QPR until January. The 23-year-old has not played a competitive match since Rangers' Carling Cup defeat by Rochdale in August so Addicks boss Chris Powell will assess his fitness, but he should at least make the bench. Powell moved for Ephraim after Dale Stephens underwent an ankle operation which could keep him out until the new year. Defender Leon Cort returns to the squad after missing the FA Cup win at FC Halifax as he was on international duty with Guyana. Goalkeeper Ben Hamer, full-back Rhoys Wiggins and top scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips should return to the starting line-up after being rested last weekend.

Match Report

Wright-Phillips keeps Addicks on the up Bradley Wright-Phillips' 14th goal of the season edged Charlton to a 1-0 win at Brentford in a fiercely-contested London derby. The striker slotted home Danny Green's right-wing cross from close range just after the hour-mark to cement the Addicks place at the top of npower League One. But the Bees missed enough first-half chances to have sealed a home win, Clayton Donaldson heading over from eight yards and Gary Alexander seeing a low drive tipped wide by former Bees goalkeeper Ben Hamer. The breakthrough came just after the hour after Brentford right-back Shaleum Logan was stretchered off with a neck injury after a clash with his own goalkeeper Richard Lee. Brentford's best chance came on the half-hour when Niall McGinn flashed a shot against the far post and Toumani Diagourage sliced the rebound wide. Lee made two saves late on as his side pressed for an equaliser, tipping efforts from Wright-Phillips and Yann Kermorgant wide. Bees substitute Mike Grella saw an injury-time header blocked at point-blank range by Hamer as the home side's lack of firepower once again cost them at home.
