Match Preview

Bidwell boost for Bees Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has been boosted by the extension of Jake Bidwell's loan deal ahead of their televised clash against Carlisle. Bidwell had been expected to re-join Everton after spending three months at Griffin Park, but the 18-year-old will remain with the Bees until March 20. Meanwhile, Rosler has no new injuries or suspensions to contend with after the midweek loss at Colchester. Captain Kevin O'Connor (foot) remains sidelined, while centre-half Karleigh Osborne (leg) is close to a return but will not feature against the Cumbrians. Striker Saido Berahino is pushing for a starting place after making his Brentford debut as substitute in the 2-1 defeat against the U's. Rosler will be hoping his side can kick-start their season in front of the cameras, having suffered a loss of form that has seen them win only one of their last nine matches. Carlisle striker Lee Miller will sit out the final game of his suspension. Jordan Cook, on loan from Sunderland, partnered leading goalscorer Francois Zoko in Tuesday night's goalless home draw with Tranmere and manager Greg Abbott must decide whether or not to make changes, with Paddy Madden, Craig Curran and Andy Welsh all in contention. Midfielder James Berrett returned from suspension in midweek and looks set to continue, while Abbott, who has no new injury or suspension problems, could face a selection dilemma at left-back. Ben Parker, on loan from Leeds, has occupied that slot in recent matches, but Matty Robson hopes to be in contention after being out for over a month with a back injury. Carlisle, two points off the play-offs, have lost only one of their last 11 league matches.

Match Report

Berahino stars in Bees win Loan signing Saido Berahino bagged a brace on his Brentford debut as his new side cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over play-off rivals Carlisle. The West Brom striker came off the bench to hit two quality goals in a one-sided affair. Harlee Dean and Sam Saunders added to the Cumbrians' misery with first half strikes that sent the Londoners in 3-0 up at the break. Dean broke the deadlock just before the half hour, getting across his man to head home Saunders' free kick with keeper Adam Collin stranded. Saunders stretched the lead four minutes later, firing home from a tight angle beneath the luckless Collin. And Berahino extended the lead with a smart volley minutes before the interval from Shaleum Logan's right wing cross. Paddy Madden forced a smart save from Bees substitute keeper Simon Moore just after the break, before Berahino put the result beyond doubt. He was on the end of a flowing Brentford counter attack to curl home a beauty from the edge of the box on 54 minutes. The youngster almost grabbed his first ever league hat-trick midway through the second half but saw his left foot drive flash past the far post.
