Duo in line for Bees return Kevin O'Connor and Adam Reed should be available for Brentford when they host Bristol Rovers. Skipper O'Connor was left out of Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Tranmere as a precaution after suffering a groin strain at MK Dons the previous weekend. Fellow midfielder Reed joined on loan from Sunderland on Monday only to tweak his groin in training, but both should be fit for the weekend. Charlie MacDonald scored upon his return from an ankle injury and came through 73 minutes unscathed so he should start in attack again. Winger Sam Wood is the only long-term injury absentee and he will resume training next month after recovering from a broken arm. New signing Jerel Ifil will be in the Bristol Rovers squad for the first time. The 28-year-old defender has signed on non-contract terms until the end of the season following his release from Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen and will go straight into the squad to face the Bees. However, fellow defender Carl Regan has joined Notts County on loan, linking up again with his former Macclesfield and MK Dons boss Paul Ince for the third time. Centre-back Dave McCracken is doubtful with a hamstring problem, while midfielder Stuart Campbell will miss out again with a similar injury. Recent signings Conrad Logan and Danny Senda are set to retain their place in the starting line-up following good contributions to last weekend's 1-0 win over Oldham. Goalkeeper Logan kept a clean sheet following his arrival from Leicester and full-back Senda played his first full 90 minutes in over two years following a serious knee injury.

Alexander spot on for Bees A Gary Alexander penalty was enough to secure maximum points for Brentford against a dogged Bristol Rovers. The hosts scored the only goal of the game after 19 minutes when Myles Weston was felled by keeper Conrad Logan as he raced towards goal. Alexander made no mistake from the spot but it was Bees keeper Richard Lee who kept his side in the game with a string of second-half saves to deny Rovers livewire striker Will Hoskins. It was all Brentford, though, before the break as Weston teed up Alexander at the far post only for his goalbound header to be chipped wide at full stretch by Logan. Hoskins could have sent the Pirates in level at the break but his close-range volley flashed inches over. After the interval it was almost all Rovers as they piled forward in search of an equaliser, the best chance falling to Hoskins who glanced his close-range header agonisingly wide. He was denied twice more in one-on-ones with Lee, while at the death Brentford's Nathan Byrne and Alexander could have put a more emphatic gloss on the scoreline but were denied by Logan.
