Match Preview

Bees stick with Lee Richard Lee keeps his place in goal for Brentford when they host Aldershot in the FA Cup. Lee was recalled to the starting line-up for Tuesday night's draw against Bournemouth after regular number one Ben Hamer got stuck in traffic on the M4. With Hamer ineligible for the cup clash under the terms of his loan from Reading, former Watford keeper Lee gets another chance. Loan winger Lewis Grabban also misses out as his parent club Millwall have not given him permission top play but Huddersfield loanee Robbie Simpson is available. Gary Alexander missed out against Bournemouth after picking up a knock at Exeter on Saturday and will be checked over while fellow striker Carl Cort is a long-term absentee with a torn Achilles. Aldershot defender Darren Jones returns for the trip. Jones missed the 2-2 draw at Hereford in midweek after he was sent off against Bury last weekend but is available to come straight back into Kevin Dillon`s side. However, striker Marvin Morgan and midfielder John Halls will serve the second of their three-game suspensions. On-loan Bristol City forward Marlon Jackson will lead the line in Morgan`s absence after Damian Spencer injured his knee in training last week. The former Cheltenham target man could be out for as long as three months. The Shots have not beaten Brentford since they went into liquidation, with the last victory coming in September 1987.

Match Report

Bees fail to sting Shots Toothless Brentford face an FA Cup replay with Aldershot after failing to kill off their League Two visitors despite creating a string of chances. The Bees even had to fight back from a goal down after Wade Small had given the visitors the lead after 13 minutes when he turned on a sixpence from Luke Guttridge's through ball to drill an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Brentford equalised seven minutes later when Stephen Wright's looping through ball found Charlie MacDonald who made no mistake with a close-range header. Robbie Simpson almost put the hosts ahead two minutes later but his 25-yard strike cannoned to safety off the outside of the post. Brentford's Marcus Bean tested Shots keeper Jamie Young with efforts from inside the box as Andy Scott's side dominated the first half. After the break Pim Balkestein headed over from close range before also seeing an effort from outside the box fizz narrowly over. But as Brentford failed to wrap the game up Aldershot grew in confidence and finished the stronger. Defender Karleigh Osborne was forced to clear off the line from Small following a goalmouth melee before Guttridge also had a 25-yard effort hit the upright. But veteran Brentford striker Nicky Forster should have wrapped it up for the League One side in injury time but dragged his shot wide when well placed.
