Match Report

Wingers Omar Daley and Joe Colbeck were in irresistible form as Bradford City bounced back to winning ways in style.

Stuart McCall's side were brilliant in the first half hour when they created enough chances to put the game to bed.

Daley and Colbeck were leaving their markers for dead time after time and Lee Bullock should have opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

Daley left three defenders trailing to set up the chance, but Vale's Anthony Griffith tracked back to deflect his shot for a corner.

The Daley and Bullock combination did pay dividends in the 17th minute as Bradford's dominance was finally rewarded.

Daley again played the ball into Bullock's path and this time the midfielder struck a left-foot shot which took a slight deflection on its way inside Joe Anyon's left-hand post.

Daly and Michael Boulding then forced fine saves from Anyon, before Vale began to hit back as half-time approached.

Luke Rodgers had one shot blocked by Rhys Evans and then another bundled off the line by a defender.

And it needed a superb last-ditch tackle from Bradford skipper Graeme Lee to deny Rodgers two minutes before the interval.

Vale's improvement continued into the second period as they forced Bradford to defend in depth, but struggled to create further clear-cut chances.

And Daley remained a real handful on the break as he fired a couple of dangerous crosses into the box at the end of further dazzling runs.

Bradford finally killed the game off 16 minutes from time after Peter Thorne chased down a long ball from Colbeck.

Thorne was marked by Griffith and John McCombe, but he managed to wriggle clear of both before cracking a tremendous finish from 20 yards for his sixth goal of the season.
