Speight set for Bantams start Bradford striker Jake Speight could make his first league start for the club against Port Vale. The 24-year-old, a #25,000 summer signing from Mansfield, impressed when stepping off the substitutes' bench in last week's home defeat to Southend. He could be handed his chance alongside James Hanson in place of Louis Moult as manager Peter Taylor continues his search for the winning formula. Taylor is still without experienced pair Simon Ramsden (calf) and Michael Flynn (hernia). Lewis Hunt is expected to continue in defence in place of skipper Ramsden, but Taylor faces a dilemma as to who to play alongside Lee Bullock and Tommy Doherty in midfield, with David Syers and Tom Adeyemi, on loan from Norwich, both in contention. Port Vale are without midfield duo Lewis Haldane and Doug Loft. Haldane is nursing an ankle injury and Loft is still sidelined with a rib complaint. But winger Rob Taylor has recovered from an ankle complaint and will come into contention for Micky Adams` side. Vale's only league defeat so far came last weekend when they fell 2-1 to leaders Torquay, before recovering in midweek to beat League One side Rochdale in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Vale are likely to make changes from the team that beat Dale, with the likes of centre-back John McCombe in line for a recall. Forward Abdulai Bell-Baggie could play his last game for Vale before his one-month loan from Reading expires.

Vale see of Bantams Justin Richards and Marc Richards earned Port Vale a 2-0 victory at Bradford. Marc Richards put Vale in front after 33 minutes when Gary Roberts' corner from the right found him unmarked in the Bradford box and he scored with a header from 10 yards out. The second goal came after 75 minutes as Bradford were putting pressure on the visitors in a bid to force an equaliser. Midfield player Tommy Doherty chipped a back pass to Jon McLaughlin, but the Bantams keeper failed to control the ball and Justin Richards turned it into the empty net. Bradford, who have now lost three League matches in a row, rarely tested visiting keeper Stuart Tomlinson, but missed a great chance to equalise a minute before half-time. Defender Luke Oliver picked out Jake Speight with a header across the face of the goal, but the striker handled the ball with the goal at his mercy.
