Match Preview

Double ban blow for Bantams Bradford midfielder Michael Flynn becomes the second player to miss the home game with Northampton due to suspension. Flynn was sent off for two yellow card offences in last week's defeat at Hereford and sits out a one-game ban, so Chris Mitchell and Michael Bryan, on loan from Watford, could come into contention. Andrew Davies, on loan from Stoke, serves the second game of a three-match ban and manager Phil Parkinson is expected to retain Marcel Seip alongside Luke Oliver in central defence. Parkinson is hoping striker James Hanson can prove his fitness in time to partner Craig Fagan up front after missing the last three games with a small calf tear, but Ross Hannah remains sidelined with a dead-leg. Defender Steve Williams is hoping to make his first league appearance of the season following a thigh problem but may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench again. The Bantams, fourth from bottom in the table, are chasing their second league win in nine matches. Captain John Johnson is an injury concern for Northampton. Johnson required stitches in a head wound during the 3-0 defeat at Port Vale last weekend. He will continue to be assessed but the club are confident the defender will be able to play in west Yorkshire. Saido Berahino could go straight into the starting line up after joining Town on a month-long loan deal from West Brom. The England Under-20 international has been brought in as cover for Adebayo Akinfenwa, who is nursing a fractured jaw and is still around two weeks away from a return to action. Midfielder Arron Davies is still struggling with back and hamstring problems and remains a major doubt. On-loan striker Marlon Jackson returned to Bristol City this week.

Match Report

Bantams stick boot into Cobblers Bradford came from behind to beat Northampton 2-1 and record only their third win of the season. Two goals in seven minutes midway through the second half did the job for City. After an uneventful first half, Northampton took the lead with a superb goal from Michael Jacobs who beat Bradford goalkeeper Matt Duke with a 35-yard shot just before the hour mark. However, Bradford equalised shortly afterwards when Andy Holt handled a cross from Michael Bryan and stand-in skipper Craig Fagan scored from the penalty spot. Then, fellow striker James Hanson scored the winner after 69 minutes. He headed the ball into the net at the far post after Northampton failed to clear Kyel Reid's curling left-foot cross. Northampton caused some anxious moments for the home defence in the closing stages. Their best chance fell to substitute Jake Robinson in the last minute but he fired high over the crossbar.
