Bournemouth are still looking for their first goal of the season, but managed a first point in their goalless draw against Yeovil at Huish Park. Indeed their performance against the Glovers was a vast improvement from Saturday's shock 3-0 home defeat against Chesterfield and they were unlucky not to have taken all three points. James Hayter, the visitors' top scorer last season, set the scene in the first minute. He found space and had time on the left to put his side ahead but fired wide of the far post. Danny Hollands did the same thing seven minutes later and Yeovil, who had an encouraging draw at Millwall on Saturday, were struggling to get into the game. Bournemouth continued to look by far the more dangerous team, but the finishing touch wasn't there. Skipper Steve Fletcher tried his luck from 20 yards when Yeovil skipper Terry Skiverton slipped, but the ball cleared the bar. And just before half-time Stephen Cooke had another great chance to score for Bournemouth but was denied when goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall managed to scramble the ball away for a corner. The second half followed the same pattern as Hollands toe-poked over the bar from six yards in the 57th minute. The newcomer was out of luck seven minutes later when a 20-yarder hit the angle of post and bar. Attempting to clear, Andy Lindegaard appeared to handle but penalty appeals were turned down. In the 75th minute the same player was again accused of handling by the Bournemouth players, but referee Jarnail Singh waved away their appeals for the second time. Yeovil brought on recent signings Kevin James and Lee Morris near the end and they added some pace and skill to the attack, but neither could magic up a goal.
