Match Report

After a dominant first half, Yeovil lost their way in this League One encounter and Bournemouth probably deserved to go home with a point.

"Once again we've given two goals away and, despite our second-half performance we gave ourselves too much to do,'' said manager Kevin Bond.

The Cherries had the unluckiest of starts. In the third minute Zoltan Stieber, the young Hungarian on-loan from Aston Villa, floated over a perfect corner, which Alex Pearce had the misfortune to head into his own net under pressure from Terry Skiverton.

Yeovil continued to press, and it was no surprise when they went into a 2-0 lead on 38 minutes. Another of their loanees, James Walker, from Charlton Athletic, bundled the ball in from close range after good work on the right by Paul Warne.

The Glovers expected to be under the cosh in the second half as the wind and driving rain were against them.

They were constantly on the back foot and assistant manager Steve Thompson, who was sent out for the after-match media conference, said: "We didn't help ourselves by our clearances, which weren't very good and we had to battle even more for the last half-hour, when Nathan Jones was sent off.''

Jones was red-carded for handling the ball on the line in a melee and Brett Pitman hammered the penalty past Steve Mildenhall's left hand.

If any side was to score after that it was Bournemouth and Bond was furious when a 'goal' by his young substitute Sam Vokes was disallowed for a foul.

Bond spent some time with referee Fred Graham after the match, reviewing the incident on video and said: "The ref said his arm came across a Yeovil player, but as far as I'm concerned, it was a perfectly good goal.

"However, when you're down there, these things go against you.''
