Match Report
Swansea finally stopped the rot as Andy Robinson helped pick off the Cherries at the Liberty Stadium.
Robinson struck moments before the half-time interval to hand Kenny Jackett's men just their second win since the turn of the year.
And the midfielder's 13th strike of the season was enough to send the Swans back into second spot.
But it was hard luck on battling Bournemouth who could look at James Hayter for a glut of missed chances which could have seen them end their own poor run of results.
The 26-year-old has bagged 16 goals this term and he came closest to drawing first blood, making the most of a 12th-minute mix-up in the Swans defence, only to be denied by a last-gasp save from Willy Gueret.
The Swans' strike force of Rory Fallon and Leon Knight, still in place thanks to Lee Trundle's hamstring injury, had little service to work on although Alan Tate looked comfortable in a holding midfield role.
But even as Bournemouth slowly increased their grip on proceedings, Fallon could have snatched an opener when his far post header crashed against the post on 20 minutes, before Hayter went close at the other end on 42 minutes with a long-range drive.
But with just 30 seconds remaining of the first half, luck fell Swansea's way when a clearance fell kindly for Robinson who placed it past Gareth Stewart to spark the celebrations.
Swansea should have extended their lead not long after the break, Fallon firstly fluffing an opportunity when sent clear on goal and then failing to connect with an Adrian Forbes cross, before Stewart saved smartly from a Tate effort.
Jackett's men grew in confidence as the game went on but almost paid the price for their failure to capitalise when Hayter raced clear once more, only for the Cherries hit-man to miss the target and allow City to collect all three points.
