It's 3pm on Saturday, October 22nd, the match has kicked off.
Boston United extended their unbeaten record to a club record ten games but came away from the Kassam Stadium disappointed not to have taken all three points following a 0-0 draw against Oxford United. Centre-back Ben Futcher's header at a corner four minutes from time was nodded ff the line by Matt Robinson. And the Pilgrims had been much the better team in the first half of a game that was a dreadful spectacle for the 5,000 fans. The two sides largely cancelled each other out, so there were only three shots on goal in the entire 90 minutes. But Boston went close on two occasions before the break. Stuart Talbot sent a dipping volley just over the bar from the edge of the box and Chris Holland brought a fine save from Billy Turley with a 20-yard shot through a crowd of players. Oxford took 73 minutes to muster their first shot on target, from Wales international Craig Davies, who came off the bench to breathe some life into the home attack. Eric Sabin then almost turned in Davies's cross from the bye-line. Oxford's ball from the back to the forwards was woeful at times, but home fans were more upset at Boston's time-wasting tactics in the final 20 minutes. Midfielder Ian Ross was booked for deliberately walking slowly over to take a corner, and manager Steve Evans was barracked for his late substitutions, which also used up time.
