Match Report

Glynn Hurst left Bury fans wanting more after completing a successful loan spell at Gigg Lane with a goal in the 2-1 win against Boston.

Hurst's 70th minute strike was his sixth in five games as the Shakers grabbed a first ever league win over the Pilgrims. But the 30-year-old former Stockport and Chesterfield marksman is due back at Shrewsbury on Monday morning.

Hurst gives the impression he wants to remain at Gigg Lane, but the Bury board would have to dig into the pockets for his services as a fee is involved.

Hurst converted a slick right-wing cross from Marc Pugh to give Bury the lead. And it looked game over when Pugh turned scorer, sliding in to convert a left-wing centre by Andy Bishop.

Bishop had a fine match leading the line but has not got Hurst's touch in front of goal.

The ex-York marksman should have made it 3-0 but was denied by former Bury goalie Andy Marriott. And Boston went straight back up field and pulled a goal back through substitute Paul Tait.

It was Tait's first touch and left the Lancastrians facing an anxious 15 minutes of defending to protect their lead.

However, they survived with a couple of scares to claim a third successive league win and stretched their unbeaten run to five matches.

Bury were the best side in a scrappy first half. Bishop seized on a bad back pass, took the ball round Marriott but struck a weak left foot shot wide of the target.

Hurst lobbed another effort over the bar as Bury looked for the opening.

Boston's best effort came from David Galbraith's free kick that Kasper Schmeichel, back on loan from Manchester City, tipped over the bar.

Schmeichel made another excellent save from Anthony Elding in the second period but really all the pressure came the other way.

And Bury were good value for their first win in nine attempts against the Pilgrims.
