Match Report

West Ham United play host to a Bolton Wanderers side already facing a battle to beat the drop near the foot of the Premier League table.

The Hammers currently sit in mid-table, having escaped from Portsmouth with a goalless draw last weekend after Robert Green saved a late Benjani penalty.

Boss Alan Curbishley has a number of injuries to key players to contend with, which he admits is becoming frustrating after a summer of investment in the transfer market.

He said: "If you look at the injuries we've had, they have all been impact injuries. We could have done nothing about them.

"Kieron Dyer broke his leg, Scott Parker and Dean Ashton damaged knee ligaments. We have had hardly any muscle injuries."

Freddie Ljungberg, Bobby Zamora and Julien Faubert are also currently sidelined, while Craig Bellamy is also ruled out due to an abdominal strain.

Henri Camara is back in contention after missing the midweek Carling Cup win at Coventry City after featuring for Wigan Athletic in the same competition earlier this season.

Bolton arrive at Upton Park having won just once in the league this season, a run of failures which saw Sammy Lee axed by the Trotters, with Gary Megson handed the task of staving off the threat of relegation.

Last weekend, Bolton earned a point from a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa and Megson was content with the effort on display.

He said after the stalemate: "There is a fantastic determination among the players to get out of the position we are in. That doesn't need any work.

"Maybe confidence is a little bit low, so we have to judge them on their work-rate, the effort they have put in and the commitment, things you don't really need confidence for.

"That was there in spades and once that improves, it might allow us to move up a little bit and work on improving the passing and the finishing."

Megson is sweating on the fitness of star striker Nicolas Anelka, who is struggling to shake off thigh and hamstring problems.

Last season's corresponding fixture ended 3-1 to the Hammers, with Carlos Tevez netting a double for the home side.
