It's 7:45pm on Tuesday, April 12th, the match has kicked off.
Stockport County's miserable season continued with defeat at home to improving Blackpool. It was the Hatters' 29th loss of a miserable season against opponents that they beat 4-0 at Bloomfield Road back in August. A sixth minute goal from former St Johnstone striker Keigan Parker was enough for the Seasiders to snatch all three points and inflict County's seventh defeat on the bounce. The home side had their fair share of chances, but some good saves from Lee Jones kept Chris Turner's side at bay at Edgeley Park. County started slowly and it wasn't long before the visitors took the lead. Jim Goodwin felled former County favourite Simon Grayson on the edge of the penalty area after six minutes and Parker curled the resulting free-kick into the near corner with expert precision. The Seasiders then nearly doubled their advantage on 15 minutes, but midfielder Martin Bullock fired wide. Blackpool shot-stopper Jones, another former Stockport player, saved well from Goodwin as County created their first chance in the 21st minute, before producing a brilliant save to deny striker Marvin Robinson from close range. Kevan Hurst saw a left-footed strike saved by Jones as the Hatters tried to level matters, but they were down at the break. Substitute Stuart Barlow headed over for Stockport five minutes into the second half, while at the other end goalscorer Parker shot wide with a left-foot drive. Barlow forced a goal-line clearance from Keith Southern as Turner's team pressed for an equaliser, while Adam Le Fondre also shot wide. Parker missed the target from the edge of the box while in search of his second goal, before Jones denied Hurst with another excellent save. John Murphy had two good chances as Colin Hendry's team looked to seal the game. The big striker forced County keeper James Spencer into making two brilliant saves, first from a point-blank header from a delightful Bullock delivery, and then one-handed from a fierce shot across the face of goal. Centre-back Ashley Williams saw a 20-yard strike deflected wide with 11 minutes to go, but that was the last opportunity the home side had to snatch a share of the points.
