Match Report

Blackpool maintained their unbeaten home run at the expense of a disappointing Plymouth Argyle.

Paul Sturrock's side had no one of the class of Blackpool's international midfielders Charlie Adam and David Vaughan, who completely dominated the game.

Plymouth had found Bloomfield Road a happy hunting ground in the recent past, having not lost in their last four matches at the ground.

The Pilgrims began with just Rory Fallon playing a lone striking role and it was little surprise that his side only troubled home keeper Matt Gilks with just one first-half shot.

That came after just five minutes and, following that Jamie Mackie effort, the game was virtually all Blackpool.

The pace of Algerian Hameur Bouazza caused the Plymouth defence all sorts of trouble down the flanks.

Bouazza's 13th minute cross should have been headed home by Ben Burgess but his effort was comfortably saved by Romain Larrieu.

It was Larrieu who kept his side in the game with a brilliant 19th minute stop from Alex Baptiste and a brave block from Billy Jones.

Blackpool piled on the pressure and Adam should have scored with a header on 29 minutes before the Seasiders took the lead on 31 minutes.

It was a moment to savour for Dutchman Marcel Seip. On loan from Plymouth, he headed a great goal from Adam's free-kick against his parent club.

Sturrock changed his formation in the second half and at last his side began to create opportunities with sub Cillian Sheridan going close and Mackie firing a good shot across the face of goal.

But Blackpool re-emphasised their superiority with a brilliant goal on 64 minutes.

Adam put away Bouazza with a 30-yard pass. Bouazza held the ball up well before finding Vaughan, who drilled home a shot from the edge of the box.
