Match Preview
Olsson wants Rovers to win ugly Blackburn have to put their new style of football to one side and play ugly to ensure the top-flight survival, according to their Swedish star Martin Olsson. Rovers have abandoned their renowned direct approach since Sam Allardyce was sacked and replaced by Steve Kean, but have also found themselves dragged into the relegation fight. Manchester City are the visitors to Ewood Park needing a victory of their own in the chase for a Champions League spot, and 22-year-old Olsson says Blackburn need to fight for their lives. Olsson, who plays left-back or left wing for Rovers, admitted the players have had to adapt to change since Allardyce left. He said: "Keano is a different kind of manager, he likes to play the ball on the ground with lots of one-touch, two-touch football. "It was different to Sam but we have to get used to that and it has been going well on the pitch but we haven't got the points we wanted. "To be honest now is not the time to play attractive football, it's about getting points and digging in. Even if we do long balls, I don't really care how we play so long as we get the points." Kean has been the target of criticism from disaffected fans but Olsson insisted it was unfair to blame the manager. He added: "You can't blame it all on him, we players have to do our job as well. "But we know the situation we are in and if we just keep playing with confidence I can't see us going down. "We have been playing some great football at times but some decisions haven't gone our way and we've been a bit unlucky as well. "We haven't even thought about relegation, we're strong mentally and cannot even think about the negatives. We've been in the Premier League for a long time and it's not going to happen that we're going to go down now." Ryan Nelsen and Vince Grella are injured for Rovers and Steven Nzonzi serves the last match of a three-game suspension. Roque Santa Cruz, meanwhile, is unavailable against his parent club. Junior Hoilett, the 20-year-old Canada-born striker, should be back after missing the defeat at Everton with a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has warned his players not to let him down when they face Rovers. There is a wave of euphoria in and around Eastlands with the FA Cup final against Stoke to look forward to next month and the chance to end a 35-year wait for a major trophy. Mancini, however, wants a reality check following the Wembley win over Manchester United when they travel to Ewood Park. The Italian is keen to avoid a performance similar to the one they gave against Liverpool, which ended in a 3-0 defeat. City are on course for a top-four place and a spot in the Champions League while Blackburn are in freefall after failing to win any of their last 10 league games. Mancini said: "It has been a good week but now Manchester United are in the past. We should forget it. "Now we need to focus only only on the next four games before the final. It is impossible to think of the final at this moment. "We have games against Blackburn and West Ham, teams fighting against relegation. These matches are very dangerous. "If we think we can go to Blackburn and play 50% it is better we stay at home and not spend the money to go there. If we have the same focus as against United, the same concentration we will win a lot of games. "That is important because we have lost many points in the last month. We must remember what happened at Liverpool. "We must give 100% because Blackburn are a strong team at home and it will be a very hard game." Mancini could be tempted to name an unchanged line-up. Italian striker Mario Balotelli looks set to retain his place following the victory over United as Carlos Tevez has a hamstring injury. With defender Micah Richards also absent with a similar problem, Pablo Zabaleta is set to stay in the team following the Wembley triumph.

Match Report
Dzeko on target in Rovers defeat Edin Dzeko ended his long wait for his first goal in the Barclays Premier League and in the process helped Manchester City close in on a top-four finish and a place in the Champions League as they recorded a 1-0 victory over Blackburn. The Bosnian, a #27million signing from Wolfsburg in January, scored the winner in the 75th minute, three minutes after stepping off the bench. He was embraced by his team-mates after breaking his duck in the top flight in this his 10th appearance. But for Blackburn the prospect of relegation is still a huge threat. After beating Manchester United and securing a place in the FA Cup final it was no surprise City started brightly. However, they failed to make their possession pay in the first half especially and Blackburn began to grow in confidence. But in all came right for Mancini in the end and they are now four points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham. City almost took the lead in the third minute with a sweeping move that unlocked the home side. Pablo Zabaleta delivered the ball from the right and Gareth Barry touched it to David Silva. The Spanish forward connected perfectly only to see his shot hit the post and come back out. Blackburn again found themselves on the back foot four minutes later when City won a free-kick 25 yards out but Mario Balotelli's effort was gathered cleanly by goalkeeper Paul Robinson. The visitors kept up the pressure and Zabaleta saw his cross cleared by Phil Jones in the 17th minute. From the resulting corner Barry's header was cleared off the line by Michel Salgado. Play switched down the other end and Jason Roberts had a claim for a penalty dismissed by referee Andre Marriner following a challenge by Vincent Kompany. Then Phil Jones showed some invention to go on a galloping run and link up with Martin Olsson before being crowded out. City responded and Balotelli carved out an opening for himself in the 39th minute only to see his effort blocked. The momentum was with Blackburn and Chris Samba saw his towering header go narrowly wide of the post a minute later after being set up by Salgado. City were being stretched and Roberts was allowed room to deliver the ball into the area but Zabaleta made the clearance. City started the second half like they did the first and Robinson took no chances and pushed over a close-range header from Yaya Toure following a cross from Silva. However, Blackburn almost took the lead in the 50th minute following a swift counter attack. Brett Emerton picked out Roberts and his header appeared to be going wide only for Olsson to get on the end of it and send a shot into the side netting. But it was City who almost edged in front in the 68th minute when Silva carved out an opening only to find the wrong side of the post with his curling effort. Adam Johnson was replaced by Dzeko in the 72nd minute and the he responded three minutes later with the decisive goal. Silva supplied the cross and Phil Jones only succeeded in sending his clearance straight to Dzeko, who smashed it home without hesitation. Blackburn, however, should have drawn level in the 87th minute but Phil Jones headed over from close range and then Olsson's effort was blocked by Joe Hart in stoppage time. These are worrying times for the home side who remain one point outside the bottom three with four matches to go.
