Match Preview
Bolton prepare for their first foray into Europe with a potentially explosive Premiership derby clash with Blackburn Rovers at the Reebok Stadium.
Next Thursday Sam Allardyce's side entertain Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the first round of the UEFA Cup but the Bolton manager will be desperate for his players to pick up three points from Sunday's crunch match.
He will also be keen to erase last term's game between the two sides from his memory. Rovers won 1-0 over the festive period with Paul Dickov scoring the only goal of the game in the sixth minute - to extend Wanderers' losing run to six matches.
However, that game proved to be the catalyst for Bolton as they lost only three of their remaining 18 Premiership matches to secure a top-six finish and a place in Europe.
After a disappointing home defeat to Everton, Bolton have responded well to secure successive victories against Newcastle United and West Ham, results that have lifted them up to fifth in the embryonic table.
Allardyce is likely to be without Radhi Jaidi, Ricardo Gardner and Khalilou Fadiga for the derby as he looks to build on his side's solid start to the season.
Rovers boss Mark Hughes is concerned by his side's disciplinary problems and after a warning from the FA for last season's poor record, Blackburn have started the current campaign with two red cards and seven bookings.
Deadline day signings David Bentley and Zurab Khizanishvili, who was sent off while playing for Georgia in midweek, could figure in Hughes' plans while Dickov and Lucas Neill are available again after serving their suspensions.
Andy Todd will begin his three-game ban though after the FA charged him with violent conduct after he appeared to head-butt Andy Reid in last month's goalless draw with Spurs.

Match Report
Blackburn picked up their first away point of the season but could have so easily have had all three against a Bolton side that seemed to have the distraction of a forthcoming European campaign on their mind.
In a Lancashire derby of few chances Blackburn had the best, and only a super save from Jussi Jaaskelainen prevented Steven Reid earning Rovers victory with a cracking shot midway through the second half.
Rovers had the game's most creative players too with substitute David Bentley making a real impact when replacing Morten Pedersen.
On loan from Arsenal for the season, Bentley showed enough to suggest that he will be a more than useful acquisition and twice he went close to setting up goals for fellow substitute Shefki Kuqi.
In a drab first half Bolton relied on long throws and set-pieces to try and scramble their way to a chance or two but there was little to trouble Brad Friedel although Ivan Campo did go close with a flashing header from a Stelios corner.
Rovers' defenders coped well under the physical threat of Bolton's powerful front line but in the second half the visitors made a much bigger impression following the introduction of Bentley and Kuqi.
A couple of defensive errors by Bruno N'Gotty and Jaaskelainen presented half-chances for Blackburn and Kuqi was only a whisker away from connecting to a magnificent cross-field Bentley pass.
A point apiece was probably a fair outcome although Blackburn, on this evidence, looked the more likely of the two sides to make an impact on the Premier League this season.
Rovers have now stayed unbeaten on their last five Premiership trips to the Reebok Stadium.
